Why can I not buy this?

The content featured on this page is no longer obtainable in Jailbreak. It is now exclusive content that can only be obtained through trading, and it is unable to be purchased by non-owners.
Became unobtainable on: November 3rd, 2019.

This article is about the unobtainable seasonal vehicle. For the Arachnid rim customization, see Vehicle Customization.

The Arachnid is a seasonal vehicle in Jailbreak. It had costed Cash Icon$750,000, and required reaching level 30 in Season 1 and level 5 in Season 2 on the Police team.

Overview

The Arachnid is based on the Batmobile seen in "The Dark Knight" movie trilogy, also called the Tumbler. It was the police team vehicle prize of OG Seasons 1 and 2, alongside its counterpart: the Torpedo. It could've been obtained for Cash Icon750,000 after reaching level 30 in OG season 1, and level 5 in OG season 2. It spawned inside of the Secret Agent Base alongside a Camaro, where it stayed for about 6 months before being replaced by the Raptor.

Some players argue that this vehicle was easier to obtain than its Criminal counterpart: the Torpedo. Both were equal in price and level requirements, but police levels were considered easier to earn. This is because police gain XP for the simple task of arresting, while in comparison, criminals need to complete somewhat long heists to earn XP.

Throughout its attainability, the Arachnid had a very mediocre top speed, making many people prefer to aim towards buying the Torpedo instead. In July of 2022, the car received a buff to be able to overdrive from 168 MPH all the way to 236 MPH, which is faster than the Volt, Roadster, Banana Car and many other vehicles.

Obtainability

The requirements to obtain the Arachnid have changed several times throughout various seasons.

Season 1 (Debut)

In Season 1, this vehicle made its debut alongside the Torpedo. It was available for purchase only when players reached Level 30 on the police team. Once unlocked, it required Cash Icon$750,000 to purchase, a price that would place it among the most expensive vehicles in the game.

Season 2 (Level requirement change)

Season 2 also included the Arachnid in its level rewards. But unlike Season 1, it would be unlocked at level 5 instead of level 30. This was likely put in place so that players who obtained the vehicle in the previous season would have an easier time re-unlocking it. However, this was rather flawed, as newcomers did not have to work as hard to unlock the Arachnid as players did in Season 1. The price tag of Cash Icon750,000 stayed the same, but the lowered level requirement made the Arachnid easier to get. The same happened with the Torpedo.

Season 3 (Spawning loophole)

When Season 3 began, the spawn point for Arachnid was replaced by the Raptor and the car was made unobtainable by normal means. It was intended that only the players that unlocked the vehicle in Seasons 1 and 2 would be able to use it and spawn it. Since its spawn at the Secret Agent Base was removed, it did not naturally appear in the Jailbreak map, making it impossible to buy new. However, if another player spawned the Arachnid with a Garage or the Premium Garage Gamepass, it was possible for players who didn't purchase it in the last 2 seasons to buy it. This loophole was heavily abused by players who did not legitimately obtain it beforehand and damaged the Arachnid's exclusivity.

Season 4 (Unobtainable)

As of Season 4, the Arachnid became officially unobtainable. The spawning loophole was patched, and upon attempted purchase, players will receive nothing but a notification that reads "Vehicle is from another season".

Performance

The Arachnid features very quick acceleration, as well as amazing handling, off-roading, and agility. It is very hard to stop, being able to climb over or plow through most vehicles. These features make the Arachnid a very good Police car, as it is well suited to chasing down criminals in tight alleyways and off-road scenarios. Its massive size can also serve as a good roadblock.

The Arachnid was been buffed as of the July 2022 Update. Once it hits 169 MPH, it will overdrive to a speed of 236 MPH, which is now able to beat vehicles like the Roadster, Volt, Challenger, and Banana Car.

The Arachnid has one of the faster launches in the game, reaching 67 MPH in one second, It outperforms the Bandit and the Torpedo. However, it loses to the Eclaire, Airtail, Beignet and Snake. It can reach its top speed in around 9 seconds, but takes a while to reach overdrive at 169 MPH. By that point, it accelerates pretty quickly and beats out many lower tier vehicles.

The handling is excellent at any speed. It does astonishingly well at making turns and going around corners for its size. Its high suspension height paired with its stability and launch power easily make the Arachnid one of the best off-road vehicles in the game. It also rarely bounces compared to many other off-road vehicles.

It can come to a stop very quickly, around 0.75 seconds to come to a full stop, even from speeds past 220 MPH. It's braking capability is similar to the Megalodon. The Arachnid has very high durability, with a health of about 125 HP. This takes out various cars including the Brulee, and most other cars.

Trivia

  • This was a player-suggested vehicle. It was a joke suggestion, but it soon became a reality.
  • The name 'Arachnid' refers to a class of joint-legged invertebrate animals, AKA spiders.
  • This vehicle is modeled after the Tumbler, a version of the Batmobile used in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy - "Batman Begins", "The Dark Knight" and "The Dark Knight Rises" - henceforth the nickname "Batmobile" (by various Jailbreak YouTubers). Various Tumblers make an appearance throughout the trilogy, most notably Wayne's black Batman Tumbler and the camouflaged military Tumblers stolen by Bane’s mercenaries from Wayne Enterprises, most to be later destroyed by Wayne using the "Bat".
    • The in-game vehicle is based upon the standard symmetrical version of the Tumbler (the type Wayne uses) as the explosive cannon and homing missile launcher variants seen within the trilogy have noticeable extra right-hand side window armoring and right side overhead design differences to incorporate the added weaponry.
  • Around 24 hours after the release of this vehicle, it received a large speed buff, allowing it to compete with the speed of the Megalodon and the pre-buffed Stallion.
    • In the Garage Refresh Update, the Arachnid received another speed buff.
  • The vehicle shares a name with a vehicle customization option: the Arachnid rims.
  • In the Season 2 Update, the Arachnid spawn was moved from next to the Camaro to the middle of the 3 blue carpets. Before, the Arachnid and Camaro were in front of the waterfall side-by-side.
  • The Arachnid was used as the primary promotional vehicle for all of the art/graphics made promoting the Garage V1 Update.
  • If players crawl into one of the rear wheels, it is possible to get stuck under the car.
  • This car has a unique stock license plate, reading "BATMAN".
  • In a tweet by Badimo talking about Nukes, they stated "We have plans to bring back seasonal items in the future!" This made many think they meant the Torpedo, Arachnid, JB8, and Raptor, all seasonal cars. In a later tweet, they replied to a reply asking about these cars returning saying: "They will not. They're limited-time vehicles."
  • The Arachnid played a role in how the first ever player was caged in Cheater Island.
    • Initially, a streamer known as MathFactor360 was live streaming and asking people to come and help him farm arrests so he could to get to Level 50 on the Police team to purchase the Arachnid. However, the anti-cheat system picked this up as a teleport hack to arrest criminals, and MathFactor360 was banned and caged in the Cheater Island. He has been unbanned since.

Miscellaneous Trivia

  • This is the third fictional vehicle in Jailbreak, after the Volt and UFO, and before the Blade, Drone, and the Volt 4X4.
  • The Arachnid is among many vehicles in Jailbreak that has fictional name instead of its real-life vehicle name, alongside the Volt, Torpedo, Surus, Deja, Ray, M12 Molten, Beam Hybrid, Crew Capsule, Volt 4X4, Airtail, Boxer, Agent, and the Interrogator.
  • This is the second vehicle that was based on a vehicle from a film, originating from "The Dark Night Rises". The Volt was the first and the Blade was the third.
  • This is the second vehicle to have its name shared with a vehicle customization, along with the Volt and the Volt texture, the Jet and the Jet rims, and the Blade and the Blade rims, also known as the stock rims.
  • The Arachnid is the second widest land vehicle in the game, before the Volt 4X4 by 50%, but the Sloop is the widest vehicle overall.
  • Although this vehicle is pretty rare and old, it did not receive the plaque stating "CLASSIC" or "RARE ITEM", while its criminal counterpart, the Torpedo, did. This is also shared with the JB8 and Raptor.
  • This is one of only 4 vehicles in the game to have an "Overdrive" gear, which allows it to reach top speeds rapidly.
