Why can I not find this?

This article or section features content that has been completely removed from Jailbreak.
Removal date: October 6, 2020.

This page is about the removed Cash Icon1,000,000 futuristic hovercar. For its replacement, see Drone. For the Blade rim, see Vehicle Customization. For the seasonal vehicle, see Celsior.

The Blade was one of the Cash Icon1,000,000 vehicles in Jailbreak. It was added in the Blade Update, based on the futuristic hovercar from the movie Blade Runner 2049, named the Spinner.

The Blade was well-known for its excellent performance and being the second vehicle to be completely removed from the game, after the Police Camaro.

Overview

The Blade was a massive success due to its hovering ability and its stats, rivalling any of the other Cash Icon1,000,000 vehicles: the Volt, Black Hawk, and Jet. However, the vehicle was removed on October 6, 2020, presumably due to copyright infringement or a major exploit involving it, although it has not been confirmed. The former is more likely to be the case. People who previously owned this vehicle received a refund of Cash Icon1,000,000 in-game cash.

The Blade was later replaced by the Drone in the Fall 2020 Update of November 2020.

Performance

The Blade was one of the quickest vehicles in the game. Upon entering and accelerating, this hovercar reached the speed of the pre-revamp Jet within seconds. In addition to this, the Blade's hovering ability allowed it to skip most obstacles, making it a more efficient mode of transportation. However, a downside of the Blade was its maximum altitude.

Regardless of all the information about the Blade, it has no relevance to gameplay now, as the vehicle has been completely removed from the game.

The top speed was estimated to be around 165 MPH, which was slightly above the pre-revamped Volt. It was below that of most supercars and hypercars, but regardless of top speed, it could hover over obstacles. Just as quick as forwards speed, making the Blade the fastest-reversing vehicle in the game, tied with Lia's Spaceship while it was in the game. It was even faster than the Brulee and Black Hawk.

Launch from a standstill was quite powerful, bringing the Blade to a high speed very quickly. It was ahead of La Matador and was comparable to the Eclaire, M12 Molten and Roadster. The closest aerial rival other than the Lia was the Black Hawk. Launch was near the top while maintaining a constant acceleration. Due to its lower top speed, it accelerated to top speed within 3 to 4 seconds, putting it around the level of the Roadster and Eclaire.

Easy to handle overall, and made fairly sharp turns. However, it could've been cumbersome in the Rising City due to its slow turning speed. It was better at handling in wide-open areas. Due to its hovering mechanics, the max height from the ground changed as it drove over the ground at different elevations. Typically though, its altitude was rather low, lower than every other aerial vehicle except the Crew Capsule and Celsior.

It had good stopping power, which was ahead of a number of vehicles. The Blade took around 1 second to come to a full stop, which was comparable to the Stallion, Black Hawk, and Little Bird. As the durability stat was made relevant over 3 years after the Blade's removal, no information is available for this. It is likely that if it was still in the game, it would be similar to the Lia once again.

Trivia

  • The Blade was based on the fictional Spinners from Blade Runner, flying cars that can convert from land to hover travel.
    • This coincidentally makes it the fourth vehicle with a name identical to a vehicle customization rim and texture option: Blade Rims. The first vehicle name that did this was the Volt sharing the same name with the Volt texture, second being the Arachnid with the same name as the Arachnid Rims, and third being the Jet sharing the same name with the Jet Rims.
    • However, it is unable to equip the Blade rims since it lacks wheels.
  • The license plate on the back of the Blade read "RPLCNT", a reference to the replicants from Blade Runner.
    • Although it had a license plate, it could not be customized through the vehicle customization GUI. Instead, it required other land vehicles with a customizable license plate to change it.
  • The Blade used to be the only vehicle with a hovering ability. It differed from normal flying due to the fact that it had no exact height limit, but allowing it to hover higher off the ground if the ground below it raises, and lowers if the ground beneath it lowers.
  • This vehicle could not be used in gamemodes.
  • In an unknown Miscellaneous Update, the Blade was removed for an unknown reason. Since the developers have not commented on this, there is a lot of speculation as to why it was removed. The Blade's spawn is now replaced by the Drone in the 1M Dealership.
    • One popular theory is due to a new auto arrest exploit involving the Blade. It would make sense if the Blade was temporarily removed until they patched this exploit, however since players were refunded, this is unlikely. The exploit remained in use after the Blade's removal.
    • The more likely theory is false copyright claims with the producers of Blade Runner, since the Blade is very similar to the Spinner. This is unlikely due to the model being created by asimo3089 himself, and fair use policies allowing the vehicle to exist as long as it is not claimed as their own creation and inspiration.
    • The Blade will not return to the game, as asimo3089 tweeted about making a vehicle that is similar to the Blade to fill in the last garage slot at the 1M Dealership, which ended up as the Drone.
    • As of now, the real reason of its removal is unknown.
  • There were some exploits going around with the Blade being spawned by exploiters, and many people speculated that the Blade was not completely removed from the game. Some attempted to buy the Blade, which they could not, even with the appropriate amount of money needed to buy the Blade.

Miscellaneous Trivia

  • The Blade was the sixth Cash Icon1M vehicle to be added, after the Monster Truck, Volt, Black Hawk, Jet, and Sloop, seventh being the Drone, eighth being the Trailblazer, and ninth being the Tank.
  • The Blade was the first Cash Icon1M vehicle with a detailed interior.
  • The Blade was the fourth fictional vehicle in Jailbreak, after the UFO, Volt, and Arachnid.
    • It was also the second fictional aerial vehicle, only after the UFO.
  • It was the third vehicle to be based on a vehicle from a film, first being the Volt (based off the Lightcycle from Tron: Legacy) and second being the Arachnid (based off the Tumbler from The Dark Knight Rises).
  • The Blade was the second vehicle in-game to have functioning doors, the first being the Ambulance.
    • The Blade is also the first vehicle to have scissor doors, meaning the doors will rotate up vertically and horizontally at a slight angle when opened, the second being the Drone and third being the Beam Hybrid.
    • This is first vehicle in Jailbreak with opening doors, second being the Drone, third being the Delorean, fourth being the Beam Hybrid, fifth being the Crew Capsule, sixth being the Airtail, seventh being Agent, and eighth being the Celsior, ninth being the Prison Bus, tenth being the Shell Mark-5, eleventh being the Crown, twelfth being the Jackrabbit, and thirteenth being the Javelin.
      • However, the doors were only open when the vehicle is vacant, and closed automatically when a driver enters. Only the Ambulance and the Prison Bus have doors that can be toggled.
  • This is the seventh aerial vehicle in Jailbreak, after the Helicopter, UFO, Black Hawk, Stunt, Jet, and Little Bird, eighth being the Drone, and ninth being the Crew Capsule.
  • It is the second vehicle to be completely removed from the game, the first being the Police Camaro.
    • It is also the only vehicle that is completely removed from the game to cost in-game money.
    • It is the only 1M vehicle to be removed from the game.
  • This is the second vehicle that gave players cash who previously owned it when it was made unobtainable.
    • The first was the Brulee, giving players Cash Icon200,000 who previously owned this. However, the Bugatti was not completely removed, as it was only retired and previous owners can still spawn it.
    • The Blade is the first and only vehicle to be fully refunded.
  • This is the fifth vehicle in Jailbreak to be replaced, after the Brulee, Steed, Mighty, SUV, and Megalodon, and was replaced along with the Posh.
