Robux amount per purchase: 99 - 9,500.
Cash is the in-game currency of Jailbreak. is used for buying vehicles, vehicle customizations, safes, some weapons, and some weapon skins. Players can also drop cash to donate to friends or bribe Police officers.
Overview
When players first join Jailbreak, they will receive 3,000. Players cannot earn "debt”, as there are no purchases that allow anyone to do so. Even if a player arrests an innocent prisoner while having less than 25 cash, their cash will just be set to zero.
There are several ways to gain cash:
- A daily paycheck (5:00 AM in-game). (As of the Balance Update, police get extra cash from their arrests, not getting pickpocketed, and owning the SWAT gamepass.)
- Arresting criminals and guilty prisoners, and collecting their bounty. (if they have one)
- Successfully robbing the Donut Shop, Cargo Ship, Gas Station, Rising City Bank, Crater City Bank, Cargo Train, Passenger Train, Jewelry Store, Museum, Power Plant, Cargo Plane, Bank Truck, Tomb, Crown Jewel, Mansion and the Oil Rig.
- Assisting a Museum robbery.
- Successfully protecting the Cargo Ship and Passenger Train robberies.
- Delivering cash from the Bank Truck.
- Winning a Battle Royale gamemode.
- Purchasing cash with Robux ().
- Picking up dropped cash/accepting bribes.
- Getting duplicate customization items from safes.
- Picking up an airdrop crate.
- Extinguishing a fire.
- Redeeming certain valid codes at the ATM.
- Deploying a Road Spike and collecting 10% of a criminal's bounty (if they have one) if they drive over it.
- Reach Level 7 in the current season system. (Season Pass, Seasons 1, 2, 3 only)
- Stealing cash inside Home Vaults during raids inside Houses & Penthouses.
- Collecting cash from Home Vaults in Houses & Penthouses.
- A reward from Robbery Bonus Rewards.
- Winning a Crew Battle.
There are several ways to lose cash:
- Arrest an innocent prisoner.
- Spend on Vehicles, Weapons, Weapon Skins, Items, Safes, and Houses and Penthouses.
- Drop/Donate Cash to others.
- Money reset due to being caught cheating or exploiting.
Paychecks varied as a Criminal as the paycheck was based on their bounty. They would get 50 every in-game day at first, but this would increase as the criminal gets a higher bounty. However, Criminals no longer receive paychecks as of the Fall 2023 Update.
For Police, their base pay is 1200 (1440 with VIP, 1640 with SWAT and VIP.) Police can also increase their paychecks by arresting more criminals and guilty prisoners, not getting pickpocketed, and owning the SWAT gamepass.
They can also pick up dropped cash by other players, whether it's to take a bribe as a police, if it's a friend giving it to them, or if somebody randomly drops it. Cash can be dropped by clicking the cash GUI on the left, and in the bottom right corner players can enter the amount they want to drop. After selecting the amount, press the "Drop" button to drop the cash.
If a police picks up money from a player, they have to wait 45 seconds before arresting any Criminal or a guilty Prisoner, thus being bribed. The minimum amount of money players can give to other players is 200, while the maximum amount of money they can give to other players at once is 20,000. The maximum amount of money they can drop every 24 real-life hours is 50,000.

Glitches
VIP Server Paycheck Glitch
On January 8, 2022, a money glitch was encountered in VIP servers. Those who owned a VIP server could have been able to open the console type "time 5" and spam it which would cause them to gain large amounts of cash from paychecks. It was quickly patched and those who participated in it had their data rolled back to January 6, 2022, including any obtainment of cash, vehicles, vehicle customizations, safes, nukes, level XP, and more.
As a result to the rollback, those who participated in the glitch and obtained the Classic and/or Airtail between January 6, 2022 to January 8, 2022 had their obtainment of the vehicles rolled back as well. Both vehicles were made obtainable again, but only in new servers to allow those who obtained one or both vehicles but had their data rolled back and for those who didn't obtain the vehicles in time to be able to purchase them. Both vehicles were made off-sale the following day.
Trivia
- Every time a VIP Gamepass owner makes money, they get 20% more (except when receiving donated cash from other players, getting duplicate items from safes, receiving money from Airdrops, and extinguishing Fires to prevent duplicating money you already have).
- Rocket Fuel cannot be bought by Jailbreak cash. Only Robux can be used to purchase Rocket Fuel.
- Criminals can make 2x times more cash in robberies (when they collect the maximum amount) if they own a Tier 4 Bigger Duffel Bag Gamepass).
- Cash can be wiped off a Jailbreak player's account if they are caught cheating/exploiting.
- In late November 2017, cash was on sale for a limited time for 20% off during Black Friday Week, if players wanted to buy cash with Robux. However, players still thought it was overpriced.
- Players receive half the cash of the safe's cost if they open a safe with an item they already own. For example, if a player receives an item they already have from a Vault Safe (30,000), they will receive half of the Vault's cost (15,000).
- Police receive an automatic 1,200 for their daily paycheck plus cash from other factors. Before the Fall 2023 Update, criminals used to only receive 50 plus 5% of their bounty. Criminals could receive a maximum paycheck of 300 cash (360 if VIP) if they had at least a $5,000 bounty.
- Before the update that brought cash dropping was published in the game, asimo3089 denied that the cash model was indeed the one used in the game. This was later proven wrong.
- Criminal paychecks raised by approximately 13 for every $250 bounty gained, yet that rate would flat out at a $3000 bounty.
- Cash prices have fluctuated over time, by simply getting cheaper.
- Dropped cash follows rules of physics. This means it will slide down slopes and can be moved by crawling players.
- The richest player in Jailbreak is L_iiaa with 1.1 Billion cash so far.
- More impressively, L_iiaa plays on mobile, which is difficult for many players and more lag can be experienced because of weaker processors and it is also harder to aim with certain weapons such as the Taser. She has her own spaceship, with many unknown stats.
- It's also rumored that badcc currently has almost two billion cash in 2019, though it's likely that he gave it to himself with commands.
- The developers have also been spotted carrying a few hundred million and 1 billion cash as well.
- At most of the times, the developers mostly carry a few to 20 million cash.
- It is unknown how many digits of cash that the game can fit in the player list, or the Top Criminals Board in the Prison Police Station.
- It's impossible to have negative cash. This might have been a thing in the game as "debt", but that would likely deter players. The only possible way to have gotten negative cash would be to have owned an apartment that kept being payed for, but was changed.
- If a user drops cash and it isn't picked up by anybody in 20 minutes, the cash will be refunded to whoever dropped it and the dropped cash will disappear.
- Players used to be able to get 2,000 (2,400 with VIP Gamepass) if they completed a daily Mission. However in the Nukes update, this has been removed.
