Jailbreak Wiki

The Challenger is an American muscle car in Jailbreak, released as the final part of the 2020 5 Days 5 Vehicles Update update week. It costs a moderate Cash Icon59,000, has 2 seats, and features a detailed interior with first-person driving.

Overview

The Challenger is the direct replacement to the Steed, a muscle car that was retired in March 2020.

It was originally found at the Mountainside Town Gun Shop at the time of its release. The Challenger was later moved to the newly-revamped Power Plant in Part 2 of the 5 Days Of Vehicles update in July 2020, replacing the spawn of the Camaro there. The spawn point was moved back to the Mountainside Town Gun Shop in the 2020 Winter Update, as the Delorean replaced its spawn point at the Power Plant, where it still remains today. The Challenger's good performance, cheap price and close proximity to the Prison makes it common among many new players, and is highly suggested by Jailbreak veterans as a newbie's first vehicle of choice.

Performance

In terms of overall stats, the Challenger is a huge bargain especially compared to its predecessor, the Steed. For its price, it is really fast, beating the La Matador, JB8, Beam Hybrid and Surus. It also has one of the fastest reverse speeds of any vehicle, decent launch and acceleration, off-roading, and brakes adding to its value. However, it has somewhat slippery handling which is especially visible when it is raining, making it slightly difficult to handle.

Overall, the Challenger is a great vehicle for beginners, especially for its price-to-performance ratios with its cheap price.

At 193 MPH, the Challenger typically maintains 170-180 MPH on long roads. Can get close to max with the help of hills, but is hard to keep due to low traction reducing speed when steering. At 68 MPH, it can be reached in a few seconds after somewhat below-average backwards acceleration.

At 1.12, it is a below-average TurnSpeed value. It struggles in the corners of City/Town areas but is otherwise fine. Average off-road capability. Good launch lends itself to hill-climbing. Bounce value of 100 keeps it stable.

Appearance and Customization

Once considered advanced for being among the first vehicles with an interior, the Challenger has since grown outdated to modern standards with its relatively basic model. The exterior is typical for the time, simplifying details and excluding exhaust pipes to keep things low-poly. The interior is serviceable, offering a comfortable first-person view, colorable interior accent stripes, and unique orange-glowing screens— though it is dragged down by the chunky default steering wheel and low detail compared to modern Jailbreak vehicles.

Given the flared fenders and specific hood intake shape, it appears to be visually based on the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon— though the price and performance in-game match closer to that of the lower-trim SRT Hellcat. Either way, this Challenger's front end is noticeably inaccurate; the headlights are full protruding circles that lack the deeper inset and subtle hood overhang of the real car, and the lower grille is too wide, ultimately making this muscle car appear less aggressive than usual.

Customization support is average, offering standard interior coloring but no extras like seat or secondary body color.

Top speed: 191 MPH
3.5s

Typically maintains 170-180 MPH on open highways, held back by its slow high-end acceleration.
Reverse: 70 MPH
3s

Reached after a few seconds of below-average acceleration. The transition from braking to reverse is sluggish.
Launch: 55 MPH
3s

(Speed after 1s). Adaquate for simple getaways, but nothing extreme.
Off-roading
2.5s

Ground clearance isn't ideal (requiring angled incline entry) and launch power is just barely enough to climb steep hills. Default Bounce value of 100 keeps it stable over uneven terrain.
Braking
2.5s

Braking is stable with no suspension tilt, but is slow to reach a full stop and transition into reverse.
Acceleration
3.5s

Solid until ~150 MPH, where it starts to become more slow and gradual.
Steering: 1.4
3s

Standard TurnSpeed value. It does fine in city/town corners and never goes fast enough to struggle on highway bends.
Traction: 300
2.5s

Standard grip prevents excessive speed loss in turns, but still breaks traction when quickly switching left and right. Drifting capability is average.
Durability: 100 HP
3s

Standard health value, recovering after 7.5s. Ramming slows it down for 1.5s.

(Speed after 1s). Decently powerful, but nothing extreme. It helps with climbing hills and gives the car an early edge on most cheap competitors.
Off-roading

Ground clearance isn't ideal (requiring angled incline entry) but the launch is good enough to power up most hills. Default Bounce value of 100 keeps it stable over uneven terrain.
Braking
4s

Comes to a stable stop from any speed in roughly a second or less.
Acceleration
3.5s

Quick and comparable to the Mighty, but sustained for longer due to its higher top speed. It stays ahead of most low-end competitors but gets outclassed by faster muscle cars.

Trivia

  • The Challenger spawns with the default license plate which reads "MUSCLE", referencing the fact that it is a Muscle car.
    • The license plate shown on teaser images read "DEMON", referencing that the vehicle this is based on is the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon.
    • The Challenger is one of many vehicles with a stock license plate that differs from the default "ABC DEF" plate. These vehicles include, but are not limited to, the Blade, M12 Molten and Boxer.
  • Though teaser images show the Challenger in a body color of red, the in-game version only spawns in default colors (yellow, orange, blue and gray).
  • On release, this car was noted to be slower than the Model 3, but an hour after its release, it received a large speed buff making it quite fast for its price. It has a higher top speed than the Cybertruck, Model 3, Megalodon, JB8 and even the pre-buffed Volt.
  • Its spawn point was moved to the Power Plant when the location was revamped. This could've been done so players are encouraged to use the Challenger.
    • However, asimo3089 stated on Twitter that the Challenger would likely return to its original spawn, due to the Delorean spawning at the Power Plant.
    • It was moved back to the Mountainside Town Gun Shop in the 2020 Winter Update on December 20, 2020.

Miscellaneous Trivia

  • The Challenger, which is an American muscle car, was announced on July 4, 2020 in Badimo's time zone, which may have been a small nod to Independence Day, a holiday celebrated in the United States of America.
  • The real-life Dodge Challenger SRT Demon comes from the factory with only one seat, as it was designed for drag racing and thus it was expected that its users would opt out of any potential extra weight. The in-game Challenger has 4 seats, the rear 2 of which cannot be used, which is due to the seat installation packages afforded by Dodge - $1 extra could be paid on purchase to include a passenger seat, and another $1 for rear seats, which most people chose to pay for.
  • Vehicle textures appear larger on the Challenger, compared to most other vehicles.
