The Crew Capsule (formerly named the Crewed Spaceship)[1] is a seasonal vehicle in Jailbreak. It could have been redeemed for free after reaching Level 10 in Season 2: Out of This World.

The Crew Capsule is also the first aerial limited-time/seasonal vehicle in-game, second being the Celsior. It was available for forty-four days since the season's opening to March 21st, 2021. It is also the first-ever aerial vehicle that can be spawned, excluding the one-off Lia's Spaceship, second being the Celsior.

Overview

The Crew Capsule hovers off-ground, similar to the Drone and the removed Blade, but reaches a lower height compared to the latter two. It hovers similarly to the Celsior. The vehicle also spins on its axis when a player is controlling it, though this is a purely visual effect. While it affects the player icon on the minimap, you are always facing in one particular direction, regardless of the rotation of the Crew Capsule. Going into first person mode (not via zooming in, but with the keybind/on-screen button) can allow the player to get a better sense of direction, as the camera will always point in the direction the player would actually move in while in first person mode.

Like the majority of vehicles, the Crew Capsule can be disabled by a gun, but people may find it difficult to do so as it has a broken hitbox. Police also cannot eject anyone inside as long as they fly at maximum height, which can be a huge advantage to criminals if being chased.

Performance

The Crew Capsule features a somewhat mediocre performance with its less notable stats and comes last in almost every aerial vehicle performance category.

However, the vehicle does feature somewhat good launch, handling, and reverse speed. These sub-optimal performance stats are likely because the Crew Capsule can be spawned by owners via the Pro Garage Gamepass and Garages, making it a desirable option for quick getaways.

Overall, the Crew Capsule's performance is average, but it can be seen as underwhelming to some. As one of two aerial vehicles spawnable using the Pro Garage Gamepass, it is very often compared to the Celsior, the only other vehicle to share this trait. While almost all of its stats are undeniably worse, even losing in number of seats (3 to 4), it does have some notable advantages.

For example, the Crew Capsule is smaller than the Celsior in length (it is slightly taller, however), allowing it to fit into some tighter spaces and much more easily rotate in place. Another edge the Crew Capsule has over the Celsior is its reverse speed, being about 15 MPH faster, significant for a flying vehicle. Perhaps its most powerful advantage, though, is its very slightly higher flying height. While it may not seem like much, it allows the Crew Capsule to easily clear most of the Prison's fences, and the fence around the Military Base, while the Celsior has to reverse into both of them using the slight forward tilt of the vehicle while it is moving to barely make it over. This makes Crew Capsule the clear choice of the two for getting in and out of the Prison/Military Base, giving it a solid, if niche, purpose for owners of both vehicles.

The Crew Capsule's top speed is 89 MPH. It is slower than the Camaro, Deja, Classic, Escape Bot, and the Pickup. The only ones the vehicle can beat are the Tank and the Sloop, making it the third slowest vehicle overall. However, due to the Crew Capsule being an aerial vehicle, it can fly over any obstacle, making it faster than many vehicles overall in most cases. The Crew Capsule's reverse speed is same as its forward speed, being able to travel the same distance at the same time.

Acceleration

The Crew Capsule launches fast; comparable to many low, medium-tier vehicles and few high-tier vehicles. It can reach up 62 MPH in 1 second. Slower than Eclaire, Fiasco, Beignet and Javelin. The acceleration to top speed is fast; being able to accelerate to top speed almost instantly due to its lower speed.

Max Altitude

2
It handles great when maneuvering through the Rising City as it is smaller. Second lowest in the game, higher with the Celsior. It can only go to about the height of the Prison Garage, but it is still quite useful, as its maximum altitude changes with ground elevation, and it can get over most small buildings and hills with ease, and the electric fence surrounding the Military Base barely.

The braking is great. It challenges many low and medium-tier vehicles. 50 health, with a disable duration of 15 seconds. Identical to the Volt and Celsior.

Trivia

  • The Crew Capsule is based on the SpaceX Dragon 2, a real-life spaceship of which the developers are big fans.
  • The Crew Capsule was buffed in the Mid-Season Update, giving it a higher maximum height limit and better top speed; however, players still criticize it for its performance.
  • The Crew Capsule is the second vehicle with a walkable interior with the first being the Black Hawk.
  • The Crew Capsule's engine sound, like the Model 3, Cybertruck, Roadster, Volt, and the now-removed Blade, becomes higher pitched when it speeds up and lower-pitched when it slows down.
  • The Crew Capsule emits a smoke effect, even when not being driven.
    • This effect is shared with the Drone and the Blade.

Miscellaneous trivia

  • The Crew Capsule is the slowest aerial vehicle in the game.
  • The Crew Capsule is the second aerial vehicle that can be spawned using Garages or with the Premium Garage Gamepass, after Lia's Spaceship and before the Celsior.
  • The Crew Capsule is the first limited-time air vehicle in the game, as past limited-time vehicles were all land vehicles.
  • The Crew Capsule is the first vehicle to be added in 2021.
  • The Crew Capsule is the fifth aerial vehicle that can be towed, after the Jet, Stunt, Blade, and the Drone. However, it can glitch while being towed, moving strangely until it sticks to the ground. This happens only at its natural spawn.
  • The Crew Capsule is the fifth aerial vehicle that does not have a rope, after the Jet, Stunt, Blade, Lia, and the Drone.
  • The Crew Capsule is the fourth hovercraft-type air vehicle, after the Blade, Lia's Spaceship, and the Drone.
  • There is a small white text above its opening door reading "RARE ITEM".
  • In an unknown update, an incredibly faint stretched image of an Among Us crewmate was added across all 3 of the internal dashboard screens.
  • A funny little thing you can do to your friends is drive this vehicle into an electric fence with your friend in one of the passenger seats and kill them with it.
