The Dune Buggy is an off-road vehicle in Jailbreak. Added in the Dune Buggy Update, the vehicle now spawns at the Tomb exit near the Water Tower. It can be purchased for 45,000.

Overview

The Dune Buggy has two passenger seats: one located beside the driver and another mounted in the back. Players sitting in either of these are able to equip and use any weapons or items.

The Dune Buggy leaves behind a tire smoke trail, very similar to the trail that is left behind when players press "Shift" while driving. This is most likely the cause of its extreme acceleration and maneuverability.

Due to its spawn located by an exit of the Tomb, the Dune Buggy is commonly used as an escape vehicle by criminals exiting the robbery.

Performance

The Dune Buggy excels in launch and acceleration, competing with the Roadster and Jet Ski in both stats. It also excels in off-roading, better than the Monster Truck. This is due to the fact that it has a light body, enabling it to climb hills with ease. The handling is exceptionally good, being able to do sharp turns easily. However, the vehicle may bounce on low-end devices when players experience lag due to its light mass. Overall, the Dune Buggy is a great vehicle to purchase for 45,000.

It's launch is very powerful. It launches to 77 MPH. The fifth-best launch in the game. It is only beaten by tied Successor and Roadster, Aperture, Stormrider and Volt. Second-best acceleration in the game, reaching top speed about 10 seconds. Only behind the Volt.

On December 20, 2024, the handling of the Dune Buggy has been fixed. Dune Buggy no longer rolls over in sudden turns, but as a result of this correction, it doesn't perform so well in sharp corners. It is comparable to many vehicles. The off-road performance is one of the best ones in the game. It climbs hills fairly and easily deals with bumps.

The Dune Buggy comes to a halt almost instantly. It beats every other car in the game and is comparable to the Roadster. No info

These are the stats of the Dune Buggy after it was affected by a Roblox update and was prior to be fixed in the July 2021 update.

Extremely fast for its price. It beats the Roadster and is slightly slower than the Eclaire. Again, absurdly fast reverse speed. The reverse speed was the same as its top speed. It had the fastest reverse speed in Jailbreak.

Insanely fast launch speed, comparable to the Roadster and Jet Ski. The Dune Buggy's acceleration is quicker than anything else in the game and is tied with the Jet Ski, once again, it's faster than the Roadster. It can reach top speed within 2 to 3 seconds.

The only aspect on the Dune Buggy that makes this vehicle so unused. It has the worst handling in the game because of its incredibly sensitive handling. The Dune Buggy off road performance is one of the best ones in the game. It climbs hills fairly and easily deals with bumps making the Dune Buggy one of the best off road performance in the game, comparable to the Dirtbike and the Patrol.

Braking from high speed takes a second or so to bring the car to a full stop. It is easily bested by the instant braking of the Roadster, Cybertruck, Model 3, and ATV as well as any of the supercars. It can slow down quicker by turning due to slippery handling. No info

Trivia

  • The Dune Buggy allowed passengers to equip and use any items while sitting in it before it was enabled on most other vehicles.
  • As of the October 2022 Update, the license plate of the Dune Buggy has been changed to “FIXED”, referring it to being fixed after being ridiculously buffed in an update a few months back that made it overpowered.
  • After the Winter 2018 Update, the Dune Buggy briefly spawned at the Mini Train Station.
    • This was quickly reverted in a patch update.
  • Originally, the Dune Buggy spawned at the opposite direction compared to when the Dune Buggy was added to the game.
  • Players cannot use Rocket Fuel on the Dune Buggy, similar to the Dirtbike and Patrol.
  • The Dune Buggy has no steering wheel, although a steering animation can be seen.
    • This was removed in a later update.
  • Due to its climbing abilities, the Dune Buggy can drive over almost any vehicle.
  • The Dune Buggy has a slower speed if its suspension is made lower.
    • This was patched in a later update.
  • There is a glitch where the Dune Buggy randomly sinks into the ground, similar to how the Dirtbike used to.
    • This can be fixed by pressing the "V" key.
  • When the Dune Buggy was broken, when upgraded to a Level 5 engine, its speed would have dramatically increased, to the point of keeping up with hypercars.
  • If the driver quickly reverses and then launches forward, the Dune Buggy will accelerate much faster. This trait is shared with the Dirtbike and Patrol.
  • The Dune Buggy could be used to perform an invisibility glitch, although this has been fixed. Players could have performed this glitch by doing so:
    • To do this, one would need to get a friend, hop into the passenger seat of their car, and pull out a gun.
    • The driver must eject the passenger who was to go invisible.
    • Once that was done, simply hop into the driver seat of the Dune Buggy, and the performer would be invisible.
  • According to asimo3089 on Twitter, the Dune Buggy was planned to be retired or be removed due to Roblox updates breaking it, probably in the update of Season 4: Epic Adventures.[1]
    • However, he later expressed that it would not be removed/retired, but that it would have a new chassis, as with the Volt, or possibly using the default chassis. [2]
    • However, it was retired in the Tomb Update and later came back in the update of Season 4: Epic Adventures, having been fixed and given a new spawn point. [3]
    • It appears to be Sandrail in real life.
  • Before having  been fixed, due to being extremely uncontrollable, the Dune Buggy's top speed was unknown, but was presumed to be one of the fastest in the game.

Miscellaneous Trivia

  • The Dune Buggy is one of few vehicles to have three seats, with the others being the Celestial, Ambulance, JB8, Deja, Bank Truck, Crew Capsule, Airtail, Banana Car, Bandit and Poseidon.
  • The Dune Buggy was the only vehicle that could climb up mountains prior to the addition of the Monster Truck.
  • The Dune Buggy shares the same engine sound with the Dirtbike and Patrol.
  • The Dune Buggy is the second car to have an interior, the first being the Posh.
  • The Dune Buggy is the only car to use the bike chassis, which is the main reason behind the vehicle being extremely glitchy.
