Overview
When players exit the Prison, turn left, and follow the road that passes the Donut Shop, they are able to locate this area after passing the Volcano Criminal Base. The colour of the dunes change based on the season, like Winter, or as a surprise by Badimo, the game's developers. Beginning with the Season 2 Update, a few dunes were dug away, and 3 pallets of wood were added, along with 3 Monster Trucks, and a crashed Stealth Jet partially buried in the sand. In The Mint Update, the pallets of wood were removed, along with the Stealth Jet. Pallets of brick and stone started to appear in this update, along with an American flag. Additionally, if players went to the Meteor, a Monster Truck was seen carrying it to the construction site. Beginning with the Military Update, the Military Base was added where the construction site once stood. A sand cave Easter egg was located in the dunes, but was removed in April 2020. Additionally, the Desert/Dunes is the location where the most Airdrops from Stealth Jets land.

Train Station

The Train Station is a somewhat important location in Jailbreak. It's located on the opposite side of the road that goes by the outskirts of the desert, but it's still considered a location within the desert/dunes. It's located close to Train Tunnel 1 which is where the Cargo Train enters the map and the Passenger Train exits the map. Both trains can stop at this location, depending on if one of the Train Switches have been pulled. When the Cargo Train stops here, players are unable to collect money until it moves again. The armored car of the Passenger Train will open when it stops here. A Ferrari now spawns here as of the 3 Year Live Update. |
Military Base (Relocated)

The Military Base was added to Jailbreak in the Military Update. Served as a police spawn along with several vehicles. It has been relocated to the Cactus Valley near Crater City in the 5 Days of Vehicles Event 2022 update. |
NASCAR Racetrack (Removed)

The NASCAR Racetrack was added to Jailbreak as part of the NASCAR Update, to celebrate NASCARs 75th anniversary. The new Semi truck previously spawned here, along with a racetrack that featured a new level track. |
Tomb

The Tomb heist was added to Jailbreak on June 4th, 2021. It is located at the former spawn of the Dune Buggy. You can read more about this robbery on its respective page. |

Trivia
- The Dirtbike spawns near a pole on the outskirts of the Dunes.
- The Dune Buggy used to spawn near the old Military Base, under an arch but was removed when the Tomb robbery was added and then moved to the Tomb exit near the Mountainside Town.
- The Camper previously spawned near the entrance of the Tomb.
- In the Alien Update, the dunes turned purple and craters appeared.
- This change was reverted in the Back To Earth Update.
- In the 2018 Winter Update, an opening appeared in one of the dunes that leads into a small cave. This cave could have been an Easter Egg from the Bear Cave in the Back To The Future Part III movie.
- As of the Passenger Train Update, three Monster Trucks, and a shovel were added in the middle of the dunes, possibly foreshadowing something being built at that spot. One of the monster trucks said "Bob", The second one said "The", And the last one said "Builder", a reference to Bob The Builder, a popular children's television show. meaning that Badimo might add something big here in the future. This was later revealed to be the Military Base.
- As of The Mint Update, the "BOB" and "BUILDER" trucks disappeared, and there was a new Monster Truck that said "32319" on its license plate.
- 32319 indicates March 23rd, 2019, which was the release date of the Military Base.
- Sandstorms were originally planned to occur here instead of rain, but were cancelled due to lag problems.
- Interestingly, the Dunes were not covered in snow in the 2020 Winter Update, while the last 3 Winter updates did.
- During the 5 Year Anniversary Update, a meteor landed in the Dunes. Jumping on the meteor during the event would have given the Live glider.
- The Military Base has been relocated to Crater City in a recent update.
