Did this thing get a makeover?

This vehicle has been remodeled, as its previous model was outdated compared to newer vehicle models.
Remodeled on: October 7th, 2022.

This page is about the usable air vehicle. For the automated planes that drop airdrops, see Stealth Jets. For the water vehicle, see Jet Ski.

The Jet is a fighter plane in Jailbreak that was added in the Planes Update of June 30, 2019. It costs 1,000,000 and spawns inside a hanger at Bounty Bay Airport, while on the runway at the Military Base.

The Jet is known for its excellent speed and powerful heat seeking missiles.

Overview[]

The Jet appears to be based off the Lockheed Martin F-22A Raptor [1], featuring 3 landing gears arranged in a tricycle setup and light grey ailerons. The afterburning engines leave a short trail behind the plane and the wings will leave a short contrail.

The Jet is mainly used by players for grinding and entertainment purposes. Due to its incredible stats, the vehicle is suitable to be used for grinding or as a method of escape from enemies. However, due to its rather complex controls, some players may have trouble while attempting to use the Jet.

The Jet was revamped in the October 2022 Update with Heat Seeking missiles, in-flight reloading, an additional seat, radio & mobile firing support, rudder controls, and more speed.

On November 2, 2023, Day 1 of the 2023 5 Days of Vehicles Event, the Jet received proper first camera support along with the Crater City Airport spawn being replaced with the Stunt.

Performance[]

With its high-performance stats and amazing abilities, the Jet is known as one of the most extreme vehicles in Jailbreak. Its controls may be complex for inexperienced players, but more experienced players can find an easy time using it due to its extremely high maneuverability, even more than the Stunt. It can travel across the map faster than any of the other vehicles, despite not having the fastest top speed in the game. The Jet can also travel on land, but its speed is considerably slower, reversing is considerably slow, and players will not be able to steer when cruising near take-off speed. It is by far much faster than the Drone and has the highest max altitude in the game, making it a very good vehicle, though it has a much slower launch and brakes and is bigger.

Overall, the Jet is an excellent grinding vehicle to use for players who have mastered its controls.

The Jet reaches a cruising speed of 212 MPH, making it fastest aerial vehicle in the game. After it's revamp, it is faster than the Proto-08 and Torero. It slightly beats the NASCAR, but is just behind the Volt and Roadster. When nosediving, the Jet is capable of reaching speeds of 224 MPH. Like the Stunt, the Jet used to be incapable of reversing until the revamp. It has a very slow reverse speed as of the October 2022 update. It only reaches 29 MPH. Only faster than Sloop and Jet Ski.

While on land, the Jet has the third worst launch in the game at 29 MPH, even beaten by the Camaro. It only beats the Semi and Sloop. It takes 2 seconds for the Jet to become airborne. The acceleration to top speed is among the fastest in the game, taking about 5 seconds to go from a standstill to top speed, which is extremely good when compared to most land vehicles. It is even faster than the Volt.

More maneuverable than any other aerial vehicle due to its advanced controls. As of the October 2022 update, the A and D keys have been added to the list of controls in order to make the Jet easier to control for those who find the regular controls too difficult to manage. It can struggle to fit through confined areas like the Volcano Criminal Base and buildings in both cities, but more experienced players can find this easy. Flies higher than any other aircraft, reaching up to 2,150 studs. Originally, the Jet could only reach 1,200 studs.

Holding the Shift key stops the vehicle almost instantly when cruising on land. When in mid-air, braking is even slower, taking five seconds to decrease throttle from full throttle and bring the plane below flying speed. The Jet has a reasonable durability for an aircraft, with 75 HP and a disable duration of 15 seconds. It is comparable to the Stunt and Blackhawk.

Missiles[]

Main article: Explosives

As of the revamp, the Jet can lock and fire guided missiles at targets.

After the revamp, the Jet missiles cost 10,000 for a pack of ten, but because of the mouse being restricted to the control circle during flight, it could only be purchased while the Jet was below flying speed (unless the player was using a touchscreen device), which was fixed in the revamp. Missiles can be bought whenever needed and each missile costs 1,000. Missiles can be purchased even when the Jet has not run out, the player will be charged according to how many missiles out of the full stack of 10 they are missing.

Before the revamp, Mobile players couldn't use Jet missiles due to control differences. However, the Jet is much smoother to control on mobile due to the dynamic thumbstick, though sharp turns are impossible to perform unless the player uses the classic thumbstick.

Tips and Tricks[]

  • Robbing the Power Plant: The Jet, when piloted properly, used to be able obtain the maximum 6,000 for criminals, more when compared to the Black Hawk, Drone, and slightly more than the Volt. Fly low and straight before flipping the Jet upside-down and doing a nosedive into a small hole just above the collector of the Volcano Criminal Base, then jump out and fall right into the collector. This was rendered impossible by an update during the closing days of Season 6. With the Season 20 update released on February 2, 2024, it became possible to get 6,000 with the Jet again with the increase of the starting money in the Power Plant.
  • Prison: Get a friend with a helicopter to drop a Jet into the Prison yard. The easy takeoff and missile capabilities make it hard for an officer to pursue you.
  • Police: The Jet can be shot down as of the revamp. Your best bet is to use another Jet to shoot heat seeking missiles at the target. If you score two hits, the enemy Jet will be disabled and you can arrest the player quickly. However, there is a likely chance that you will kill the criminal instead.
  • Combat:
    • Land: Heat-seeking missiles are incredibly useful against large land vehicles, popping tires and taking out some of the criminals/cops.
    • Air: Utilizing the heat seeking missiles, you can lock onto an enemy target and fire at them, if they are stationary, slow down to just above landing speed to get as many shots off as possible before you pass them.
    • Strafe/missile run: Not the most effective, but it will most likely send your enemies running for the hills. Line up the jet and launch a few heat-seeking missiles towards the targeted area. Excellent for intimidation and scaring off enemies attacking your teammates.
  • Using the Jet as Police:
    • Fleeing (health is too low): As the Jet has great maneuverability, the vehicle is good for escaping criminals. Generally, it is hard to damage a player in the Jet while in the air. Use it to the player's advantage to escape hordes of criminals and escape.
    • Combat/arresting: Missiles are great for taking down criminals if they cannot be detained. As of the October 2022 update, the missiles can now lock onto targets and provide an almost guaranteed hit on the target.
      • There are 3 aerial vehicles with combat capability with the stunt revamp
        • This can also be done without shooting missiles, and quickly arrest them (nosedive on the criminals, exit the Jet, and arrest them. They may get stuck, which is another advantage).
      • If high-bounty criminals are keeping a safe distance from the ground in aerial vehicles, two missiles from the Jet will likely bring them down for you to swoop in for an arrest.

Trivia[]

  • The revamped version of this vehicle is based off the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor.
  • The pre-revamp version appears to be based off the Dassault Rafale.
  • When performing sharp turns in the Jet, a heavy breathing sound effect will play. This simulates what a fighter pilot would experience when high amounts of G-forces are present.
    • In real life, pitching a Jet to a sharp angle at high speeds would typically destroy the airframe.
      • However, due to modern Fly-By-Wire systems, controls in real life would be linked to a computer which will therefore prevent maneuvers that might damage or stress the aircraft's airframe.
  • For unknown reasons, some of the Jet's controls are not labelled:
    • Q suppresses vertical maneuvering while letting the vehicle roll freely.
    • Pressing F or left-clicking fires a missile when flying.
  • On July 14th, 2019, the Jet's maneuverability was improved to be more sensitive and responsive to user input.
  • The Jet was once infamous for getting permanently stuck after flipping upside-down on flat surfaces. Players would be forced to get a new Jet if they cannot flip their current one over. As of now this rarely happens.
    • As of the Cybertruck Update, this problem has been fixed, although it can still get stuck if flown into power lines or wedged in the city buildings.
      • This is no longer a problem due to powerlines self-destructing when hit by a vehicle.
  • The Jet can travel up to an altitude of 2,125 studs before reaching the height barrier. It could have also flown high enough to reach over the map barrier (~1,250 studs) before the map barrier's removal.
  • The Jet, as well as the Stunt, are capable of flying under the map, by going at the edge of the map and diving into the water, then pulling up immediately to prevent taking damage from going too low under the map.
    • If under the map in a Jet, the altitude meter reads -(altitude), meaning that the driver is beneath the ground.
  • In real life, the Jet's afterburners are not like Jailbreak's, which are constantly on completely disregarding the throttle input.
  • Before the Visitors & Ship Update, the Jet could not be locked and despawned faster than any other vehicle.
  • The Jet can immobilize the player if they exit the Jet at high speeds. It can also get the player stuck inside the Jet if they land it upside down with a roof above the cockpit.
  • The pre-revamp Jet can be found at the entrance of both Crater City and Bounty Bay Airport, but it only serves as a statue decoration.
  • Unlike the Stunt, the Jet has non-retractable landing gears.

Miscellaneous trivia[]

  • The Jet is the fifth vehicle to be equipped with a weapon, after the Helicopter, Celestial, SWAT Van and the Black Hawk.
    • The Jet is the first vehicle to be equipped with guided missiles.
  • This is the third vehicle to share the name of a vehicle customization option, sharing the name with the Jet rims.
    • The first one is the Volt, sharing the same name with the Volt texture; second being Arachnid, sharing the same name with the Arachnid rims; and fourth being the Blade, sharing the same name with the Blade rims.
  • The Jet is the third military-based vehicle in the game, after the Jeep and Black Hawk and before the Goliath.
  • This is one of only three 1,000,000 vehicles that does not spawn at the 1M Dealership, the other being the Sloop and the Tank. Instead, the Jet spawns at the Bounty Bay Airport and the Military Base.
  • This is the fifth aerial vehicle to be added in Jailbreak, after the Helicopter, Black Hawk, UFO, and Stunt, and before the Little Bird, the now-removed Blade, Drone and the Crew Capsule.
  • This is the second vehicle to be teased on YouTube by Badimo, after the Jet Ski, and before the M12 Molten.
    • This is the fourth vehicle to be featured in a teaser on YouTube, after Jet Ski, Torpedo, Camaro and M12 Molten.
  • This was the seventh vehicle in Jailbreak with a single seat, after the Classic, Volt, ATV, Patrol, Jet Ski & Stunt - pre-revamp.
  • Despite being able to shoot down using a missile, if you exit and re-enter the jet you can fly again instantly similar to the Black Hawk before it got patched.
  • Prior to the October 2022 Update, the Jet did not have a speedometer which meant that it couldn't be locked.
    • This was also the case for the Stunt and water vehicles.
