The Oil Rig is the newest robbery in Jailbreak, added in the 2023 Winter Update. It is located off of the coast of Crater City.
As of the Season 20 Update, the Oil Rig now opens alongside the Crown Jewel and Crater City Bank with the new robbery group opening system.
Overview[]
The Oil Rig is a unique robbery. Unlike other robberies, the Oil Rig features four rooms and is heavily guarded by Bandits. Rooms 1 through 3 feature large oil tanks that the player can steal from, while the fourth room features a control room for the laser turrets. Around and inside the Oil Rig, you can find explosive barrels that can deal splash damage to NPCs as well as other players when shot. These barrels can be picked up by aerial vehicles and dropped for the same effect. It is also the only robbery to have boats as the main mechanic and vehicle used to rob it.
Robbing the Oil Rig[]
Recommendations[]
- Bringing a friend is highly recommended, as one of the rooms inside of the rig requires two players to enter. Fights against Bandits are also easier with multiple people.
- Keycard: Required to access the first and fourth rooms. Players can still access the room if another player opens the door or if they grab a keycard in the third room.
- Weapons: Recommended at all times, used to kill Bandits defending the Oil Rig or any Police officers that may sneak inside. A Pistol is available on the platform if needed.
- Donut / Forcefield Launcher: Used to heal if players are in low health. A donut machine is located in Room 1 if needed.
Entering[]
When the Oil Rig is open, players must approach the Oil Rig using a boat, whether that's being a Cruiser, Jet Ski or the new Speed Yacht. The Oil Docks are across from the rig on land, featuring spawns for the aforementioned vehicles. Attempting to swim, using a vehicle, or fly into the Oil Rig with an aerial vehicle will result in death due to the rapid laser turrets stationed on top of the Oil Rig. However, if you fly really low in a helicopter, Drone, Stunt, Jet, or drive a Delorean on the water, you can avoid the turret.
Starting the Robbery: Main Entrance[]
To start the robbery, dynamites can be placed down throughout the rig. As soon as the first dynamite is placed, criminals have four minutes until the Oil Rig explodes. Dynamites can also be placed almost anywhere within the rig to keep track of the amount of time left. After placing one down, several Bandits will come out of the guard-locked room and attack players on board the Oil Rig. The amount of Bandits left to kill is indicated by a number display above the door. You can shoot the barrels located across the entrance for an extra damage boost or to quickly damage a group of Bandits. Killing all of the Bandits allows you to enter the room where you can go inside and flip the lever. The main gate will now open.
Rooms[]
Overview[]
The first room is located right up the staircase from the main gate. This room requires a keycard to enter and features one large oil tank. To obtain the oil is easy; stand close to the tank and your bag will begin to fill up. There is also a donut vending machine located in case players need to regenerate health. Players can earn up to 1,350 from this room.

Overview[]
Continuing up the stairs will give you a glimpse of Room 2, locked behind a door with a keypad adjacent to it. Hacking the keypad is the same as hacking into the Power Plant. You will be met with a pop-up flow puzzle and you will have to drag the colors together so that no color cuts off another color's trail. Completing the puzzle will unlock the room. There are a few Bandits inside this room, so a good strategy is to shoot the explosive barrel located in the center of the room which significantly damages all of them. This room features two large tanks where the oil can be collected. Players can earn up to 2,700 from this room.

Overview[]
To the left of Room 2 will be a two-lever door requiring two players to pull the levers at the same time to enter. Behind the doors is a big room with a few Bandits defending it. To the right, there is another lever door which leads to the third room. This room features a parkour section which requires jumping across platforms and dodging a handful of lasers. If you fail, there is a ramp to get back up in the middle of the room. The room also features a keycard to take, which is essential if players robbing without a keycard want to unlock Room 1 and Room 4. This room features three large tanks and gives the most money of the three. Players can earn up to 3,950 from this room.

Overview[]
At the end of the hallway and to the left of Room 2, there is a door with a sign above featuring a laser shooting at a player. This room requires a keycard to enter. Once inside, there is a monitor screen to the left. Simply hold E to disarm the turrets, which will allow players to use helicopters to get to and escape from the rig for the remainder of the robbery. You can now climb the ramps after exiting through the door next to the monitor and get on the rooftop. A single bandit can be found defending a Helicopter on the helipad. Hijacking the Helicopter will allow you to enter and fly away. Make sure to disable the security first before flying away, or else you will be killed by the lasers.

Escape and Cashing Out[]
Be sure to escape the rig before the timer hits zero. Once the four minutes are up, the rig will explode with a nuke-like effect killing players inside as well as in the vicinity. If you manage to get away about the distance from the oil rig to the boat dock, you will be safe.
There are a few ways to escape the Oil Rig after robbery:
- Inside of the big room where the door to Room 2 is located in, there is another door on the left from where you first enter. Head through the door and go to the right. There will be a Jet Ski which drops directly into the ocean.
- By the front base of the rig, a Speed Yacht can be found.
- A Helicopter spawns on the roof which can be hijacked and flown away. Be sure to disable the security lasers, or you will be shot down and killed instantly.
After escape, players must head to the Crime Port and find the boat labeled "Undercover Exports". The player can cash in their money here and successfully complete the robbery.
Cash Amounts[]
Each room has a different amount of maximum cash that can be earned in it.

Tips and Tricks[]
Criminals[]
- Make sure to carefully watch the clock. Allow yourself time to escape before the rig explodes.
- Ideally, a certain route should be taken depending on the current circumstances of the robbery and players robbing.
- If the timer is almost over upon arrival, make sure to rob Room 3 first due to it having the most money to obtain.
- If a player enters without a keycard, start in Room 3 first and grab the keycard on the way out. Then, rob the other two rooms.
- Bandits are located throughout the whole rig. Make sure to kill them before proceeding to avoid any mishaps.
- Use the explosive barrels to your advantage by damaging a lot of Bandits at once within close range. Be careful however, as these barrels can also damage other criminals. Beware, the barrels have a high explosion hit-box.
- You can also use the barrels to damage police.
- To quickly get to the Crime Port after escaping by boat, head south and keep left to cut through using the water passage near the Bounty Bay Airport. This will take you right to the Crime Port.
- Police are allowed to freely enter the Oil Rig, and criminals will be notified upon entry. Police could be around any corner, so stay vigilant.
Police[]
- Make sure you are experienced with close-quarters combat as the hallways and rooms can get pretty cramped.
- Camping the robbery can be difficult as the rooftop exits can only be accessed from inside. If needed, camp the entrance gate.
Vehicle Spawn Points[]
- A Cruiser spawns at the Oil Docks which are across from the rig. It is free for players to use and can seat two players.
- Two Jet Skis spawn at the Oil Docks and on a platform outside of Room 3 as an escape vehicle. This nimble vehicle costs
50,000.
- A Speed Yacht spawns at the Oil Docks as well as the base of the rig. This speedy boat costs
250,000 and can seat six players.
- A Helicopter spawns on the rooftop on top of a helipad. It is free, but requires hijacking for escape use. The Turrets must be disabled before hijacking or else they will shoot at the helicopter resulting in the death of the player.
Notifications[]
- "The oil rig is open" (Notifies the Player who has the BOSS Gamepass) (removed)
- "The Crater Bank, Crown Jewel and Oil Rig will open next. BOSS's learn this before everyone else!" (Notifies the player who has the BOSS Gamepass)
- "You need a keycard to open this door, try a different room!" (When attempting to open a keycard-locked door)
- "You already pulled a lever! Get a friend to help." (Pulling the second lever near room 3 when you pulled the first lever)
- "The oil rig is under attack by police!" (When (a) police officer(s) is/are climbing the ladder of the oil rig when under robbery)
- "The oil rig is closed, come back later."

Trivia[]
- The Oil Rig is canonically owned by the CEO as a money-making venture.
- This is the second robbery to feature Bandit NPCs, with the first being the Mansion.
- However, only the Enforcer and Bodyguard are found. This might be because a lot of the combat is close quarters, which makes the Sniper useless and the Chaser too overpowered.
- The sniper does not appear in the Mansion for the same reasons.
- However, only the Enforcer and Bodyguard are found. This might be because a lot of the combat is close quarters, which makes the Sniper useless and the Chaser too overpowered.
- The Oil Rig is the second robbery to have automatic self defense system, the first being the Cargo Ship.
- The Oil Rig is also the second robbery that requires a certain vehicle, that being a boat. The first was the Cargo Ship
- Technically, the Bank Truck requires the Bank Truck Vehicle to be driven to start the robbery, but it is not required to rob it once the robbery has started.
- The Oil Rig is the first robbery to use boats as its primary mechanic.
- With the cash-in point being located at the Crime Port, the Oil Rig has the furthest distance from the robbery location to the cash-in point out of all robberies in the game.
- This is excluding if a player robs the Cargo Plane after collecting a crate at the end of the route.
- When you are caught in an explosion at the end of the robbery, a small orange shockwave appears in the area where players in it are killed. Any players in this also have an orange screen when they respawn similar to what happens when being nuked.
- Despite the similarities between the explosion of the rig and a nuke, the Oil Rig's explosion does not award a radiant color upon death.
- During the Oil Rig's first month of being added, it was not a part of the Robbery Grouping System.
- In the Season 20 Update, the Oil Rig was added to Robbery Group C, opening alongside the Crown Jewel and Crater City Bank.
- The exploded debris forms a barrier in the sea near the Oil Rig when it is exploded/closed. The debris sinks when the robbery is about to reopen.
- The lasers are one of the fastest killing objects in Jailbreak, taking 3 hits at a time. The lasers can also go off when a player is out of the map boundaries.
- Prior to being added, the Crater City Racetrack was in place of where the Oil Docks are but when the Racetrack was removed the Docks were added with the Oil Rig being Extended out
