To see the information regarding the Cargo Train, click here. The Passenger Train (based on The Polar Express) is a moving land heist in Jailbreak.
Overview
The Passenger Train is made up of the main locomotive, a cart behind it, and it will have at least 3 cars behind it, one of which is the armored car containing cash piles (each worth 1,000), and the rest being normal cars, containing glasses, computers, and documents (each worth
300), as well as some briefcases (each worth
1,000).
The placements of the items in the train cars are randomized, with various items always spawning in different places. The Passenger Train used to have a faint ghost-like figure of the drooling zombie Easter Egg, sitting on the front; this only lasted for 20 minutes. As of the 2022 August update, the Passenger Train received a new model.
The Passenger Train enters the map through Train Tunnel 3, and exits through Train Tunnel 1, travelling in the opposite direction of the Cargo Train. If a Train Switch is not tampered with, it will stop at Train Station and the armored car will open up to reveal several piles of cash that give 1,000 per pile.
Police can also play a role with the Passenger Train. Criminals can rob items from the passenger cars, but police officers can grab those items and gain cash from it, in the name of "robbery protection". Police officers can grab many items before they can't earn cash from protecting items. This works similarly to "protecting" the Cargo Ship's crates.
In the Fall 2023 Update, the Passenger Train now spawns inside the map alongside the Power Plant and the Cargo Plane with the new robbery open system.
Robbery/Delivering Procedure
The Passenger Train is notably more difficult than the Cargo Train counterpart, considering that police can also make money from this robbery, giving them more incentive to wait for this heist. Regardless of the difficulty of the robbery, however, the robbery procedure is still eerily similar to the Cargo Train's.
There are a number of factors that make the Passenger train slightly dangerous to criminals.
- Weapons: recommended if Police officers also collecting items, using weapons to kill without getting arrested.
- Jetpack: recommended if needed to get on to the top and escape from Police officers.
Note: Criminals should check the train thoroughly for police before robbing. If anything on the train is taken, a robbery bag will appear which will disable players from defending themselves. Both teams should also be careful to not get run over by the train, as it would result in them dying instantly.
- Lay low and wait for the Train. The Passenger Train spawns at Train Tunnel 3 - a fairly underpopulated location - which is also where the Cargo Train despawns. However, players should be aware when waiting for the train as this robbery revolves around stealth and secrecy.
It is recommended to stay around the Gas Station or near that area.
- Get to the high ground. Getting onto the Passenger Train while it is moving can be tricky to pull off, but it can be done. It is recommended to get onto the train from the top. Skydiving onto the top from an aerial vehicle, jumping on top from the roof of a tall vehicle, and leaping onto the train from above a train tunnel are all recommended ways to get onto the Passenger Train, and will allow you the easiest access to the heist.
The smartest way to rob this is to have a vehicle set up somewhere where the player knows the train will pass by, such as the bridge near Rising City Police Station or the old Fire Station location.
- Get on top of the train and break the glass. Each of the carriages have glass panels on the roof that can be broken. After getting on top of the roof of the train, hold "E" and wait for the glass to break. Players will gain $100 bounty for each time they break a glass panel.
The best way to do this is quickly and stealthily - players may crouch if they like.
- Drop-in and loot up. Since the armored car cannot be robbed as it is not opened (unless the player attempts to rob the train when stopped at the Train Station), players will have to fill their bags on documents, glasses, laptops, phones, and briefcases. After having taken as many items as possible, it is recommended to stand inside one of the booths of the train and wait for it to arrive at the train station.
There are chances that a police officer is on board at the time, therefore players need to move as fast and as stealthily as they can.
- Once the train arrives at the station, pick up the briefcases. As soon as the Passenger Train pulls into the station, the armored car's doors will slide open, revealing many red briefcases - the most valuable items on the train. Be wary though, enemies can attack at any moment.
Police officers do not need to turn the items in anywhere since they will get their cash immediately if they grab items. Police also do not have a bag, so they can collect potentially everything available on the train, which could give them up to 4,000 with all gamepasses.
Tips & Tricks
The Passenger Train is quite literally a mobile Museum, using the same mechanics. One thing that sets this heist apart from the Museum is the amount of loot involved in this heist. This heist has a minimum cap of 3 carriages, meaning if there are three carts of loot, it will be hard to get maximum cash when robbing in a group. There are, however, several tricks and tips players can use to help increase your total amount of money each time they rob in this heist:
- Hop aboard as quickly as possible: If you would like to make off with a full bag (as a criminal), or at best close to a full bag in a group robbery, you need to drop into the train as early as possible and try to grab everything there is to grab. The chances of you getting a full bag without the aid of the armored car are very unlikely, but you can snag a decent amount of money if you are quick.
- Try to remain stealthy: If no one recognizes that you are aboard the train, or even that this train is going through the map, do not mention anything. The best possible outcome for you in this heist is being able to ride the train to Train Tunnel 5 with a full bag, just before the volcano base, and turning in your money. If you can do this heist undetected and as stealthily as possible, you'll escape with a full bag each time.
- Remain armed at all times: It is always recommended to carry weapons with you whenever you rob the train. Enemies can drop down at any time. To counter, you can do one of two things: crouch somewhere and hide, or shoot at your enemies. If you can keep your distance and fire your weapons at them, the chances of them dying and you being able to make off with your loot will be greater. If you're aren't very good at using weapons, it is recommended that you try to remain hidden. Note that you cannot use your weapons when you are holding the heist bag, so if you know that enemies are on board, do not loot, but try to shoot at them. They will be focused on getting loot themselves so the chances of you being able to make off with a full bag (as a criminal) will be larger. This would, however, allow the police to grab all the items before the criminals do.
- If the Police find you: If riding the Passenger Train becomes too risky due to the amount of police on board, it is best to bail out of the train if they find you. Even if you do not get all your money or any at all, it is always best to leave the Passenger Train at any moment if the police find you and turn in what you have. If you have weapons and haven't robbed anything, you can try shooting the police down. However, due to the lack of space inside of the Passenger Train, it is better to just bail if more than one police officer is on board. If you manage to bail out of the train, police will most likely ignore you and instead collect all the items on the Passenger Train, unless they know you have a very high bounty.
- If the Police are chasing you beforehand: If there is a Passenger Train in the map (the BOSS Gamepass will tell you immediately), you can lure any police that is chasing you towards the train. They will probably want to rob that instead of arresting you, so just wait until they are on and then run away, or try to rob it secretly as well. However, sometimes police will ignore the Passenger Train if you have a very high bounty, or will just chase you inside the train.
- If you're willing to, buy the Stallion. Although it is somewhat expensive, at
200,000, it has a very fast top speed, placing seventh fastest overall, along with great acceleration and launch speed. Plus, if a cop spots you robbing the train in the Train Station, the Stallion is a good getaway vehicle.
XP Payout
Players were unable rob this train twice, so they would get a base amount of 200 XP for a successful robbery. Police, on the other hand, couldn't get any XP for delivering items. Some, however, argued that this XP amount was unfair compared to the Cargo Train, which only issued 150 XP per heist.
This was the case until the introduction of Season 1: New Beginnings, which requires players to complete Contracts to earn XP and level up. Players can get 35 XP as one of the criminal contracts requires players to rob the Cargo Train and Passenger Train without dying. Now, players can get 25 XP from a contract for robbing a train without dying.
Cash Amounts
A successful heist off of the Passenger Train can be very rewarding. If the player makes off with a full bag and successfully arrives at the Volcano Criminal Base & turn in, they should earn up to:

Trivia
- The zombie in the front of the Passenger Train was likely added due to a popular clip in which a testing zombie (which was accidentally added to the game) gets hit by the Cargo Train.
- When the Passenger Train reaches Train Tunnel 1, any player on board will be teleported to the Train Station.
- Unlike the Museum, players can still grab an item that cannot fit into their bag, filling the bag.
- Players can also grab as many items as they want with a full bag, though they won't get any more money, and the item will disappear.
- The Passenger Train has an 80% chance of spawning while raining and at night.
- This train is likely based on the Polar Express, which is a movie about a train picking up kids and somehow bringing them to the North Pole and back in one night. That train's locomotive is likely based on a steam locomotive, the Pere Marquette N class 2-8-4 Berkshire locomotives. Two locomotives of this class, PM 1223 and 1225, survive today. PM 1225 is known as the real Polar Express due to it being the basis of the locomotive for the Polar Express. Also, another likely locomotive basis is the United States Army 101, a 2-8-0 steam locomotive built on 1916-1918 during World War I and was operated by United States Army & Korean National Railroad. As of present, it is currently non-operational, owned by the National Railroad Museum, and is stored on display. Another locomotive, that looks exactly like the Passenger Train, is the Milwaukee Road #261 4-8-4, built-in July 1944. It has been saved by preservationists, and is currently in service giving excursion rides to this day, for examples, the "North Pole Express," which the locomotive runs on seasonal occasions.
- The train's icon is based on a New York Central J3A 4-6-4 "Hudson".
- Sometimes, random E prompts will appear all over the track and on the train. They usually just blink, but if the player manages to grab one, they will not collect any money.
- Police used to be able to get up to
9,000 depending on how long the train is. Ever since Garage Update V2, police officers can get a limited amount of money.
- Like the Cargo Train, this train cannot be stopped by any vehicle.
- As of the City/Weapons Update, the Passenger Train can now run in the opposite direction of the Cargo Train's normal route if a certain Train Switch is pulled; it will not stop at Train Station and proceed to the exit tunnel without stopping at all. Going this route will not open the armored car so it is best to let it go through the alternate route if you wish to collect briefcases from the armored car.
- When the Police grab items in the Passenger Train, it used to be
200 per item (
240 with VIP Gamepass). However, as of the City/Weapons Update, this was changed to
250 (
300 with VIP Gamepass) per briefcase and
150 (
180 with VIP Gamepass) for the rest of the items.
- As of the Garage Update V2, all of the item's values have been tripled.
- There is a glitch where the armored car door is already open when the Passenger Train enters the map. This is especially good for criminals with the Bigger Duffel Bag Gamepass who want to fill up their bag quickly before the police arrive. A YouTuber recorded this happening in this video.
- Another glitch is where you will not move with the train momentarily and you will slide off the back of it. This happens more often on laggy servers or bad devices/internet.
- Rarely, when the passenger train stops at Train Station, there will be no briefcases.
- In the 2019 April Fools Update, the front locomotive of the Passenger Train became Thomas the Tank Engine from the TV show "Thomas & Friends".
- Sometimes the briefcases and passenger items will not give you any cash. This is most likely a glitch.
- The sounds of the Passenger Train are very different in real life. Here are the sound files of the train and the bell: steam engine sound and the train bell sound.
- The sound of the train bell is the final spin bell from the TV game show "Wheel of Fortune".
- If any vehicle is on the tracks, the Passenger Train will go right through it.
- In the Nukes Update, the Passenger Train received a redesign and the snow on top of it was removed.
- Many players insisted that it was "about time" the snow was removed, but it didn't make any change to initial gameplay.
- Also in the Nukes update, the train was very glitchy, often times it would go off the railroads and drive under the map. Badimo quickly took notice of this and was patched just a few days after its initial release. This was shared with the Cargo Train a little later, which was also patched.
- However, with the Cargo Train, it would pass through the water, instead of going out of the map. Players could rob the train when it was underwater.
- Players can access the armored Passenger car without waiting for it to open through a glitch. Simply land in the gap between the armored Passenger car and the locomotive, and use a Jetpack to fly through the metal gate and into the Passenger car to steal the briefcases. Fly with the Jetpack again to no-clip through the armored Passenger car into the normal Passenger cars and jump off the train to escape.
- Players can also no-clip into the armored carriage by jumping onto the top of the train on a laggy device when the train spawns.
- On the thumbnail of the Passenger Train's release, the briefcases inside of the armored car has different colors (yellow, purple, etc). However, this was never implemented into the game.
- In an unknown update, players were now able to rob the Passenger Train multiple times, meaning they could rob items inside the cars and give them to the collectors at the Volcano Criminal Base twice or even three times.
- In order to rob it twice, players would have to rob items from the train near or half-way through its journey across the map, use a fast vehicle to collect the money, rob the train again, then redeem the cash to the collector.
- To rob it three times, players would need to wait at Train Tunnel 3 and immediately get inside, rob it, and turn it into the collector. Then repeat the process until the player has robbed items on the train for the third time. It is recommended to use a fast aerial vehicle and to allow the train to stop at Train Station.
- As of an unknown miscellaneous update, this is no longer possible, and players can only rob the Passenger Train once.
- Prior to the Fall 2023 Update, the Passenger train would spawn anywhere from 8:00 PM-4:30 AM (in-game time), and anytime during rain or thunderstorms.
Miscellaneous Trivia
- The Passenger Train is the third vehicle that cannot be driven, after the Cargo Train and Stealth Jets, and before the Cargo Plane, Cargo Ship and Private Jet.
- The Passenger Train is also the second moving heist in Jailbreak, after the Cargo Train, and before the Cargo Plane, Cargo Ship, and the Bank Truck.
