Did this thing get a makeover?

This vehicle has been remodeled, as its previous model was outdated compared to newer vehicle models.
Remodeled on: August 7, 2021.

The Pickup is the cheapest regularly purchasable vehicle in Jailbreak with a price of 9,000 (excluding free vehicles, seasonal vehicles, the SWAT Van and Celestial if their Robux price were converted to Jailbreak cash and safe prizes). The Pickup can be found in front of the refill stations at the Gas Station.

Overview

The Pickup was added in the SWAT Van Update of May 6th, 2017, along with the SWAT Van. The Pickup could previously be obtained by buying the Starter Pack Gamepass prior to the gamepass' removal. This vehicle can seat four people: two in the front and two in the cargo bed, making it more suitable for players playing in teams.

The Pickup received a revamp on August 7th, 2021, when it was given a detailed interior to fit in with newer vehicle models.

Performance

The Pickup can be described as a purchasable version of the Camaro due to the similar performance stats between the two, albeit the former has slightly slower acceleration. It is similar to the Camaro in terms of top speed, reaching 131 MPH. However, the Pickup's off-roading performance is slightly worse when compared to the Camaro.

All in all, the Pickup is a decent vehicle. With the ability to seat twice as many people as the Camaro, along with its cheap price, it is commonly bought by newer players. Despite so, it is advised to use the Jeep, which is free to drive and has around the same performance, or buy the Model 3, which has much better performance while only costing 7,000 more.

Trivia

  • The Pickup seems to be based on a third-generation Chevrolet C/K.
  • Prior to the Gun Skins Update, the Pickup came as part of the Starter Pack deal, which was a 24-hour promotion for people playing the game for the first time.
  • The Pickup is the cheapest vehicle a player can buy directly with in-game cash. It can be bought with a single donation or robbing two crates from the Cargo Ship.
    • While the Fiasco may have a lower price theoretically, due to its parent safe costing 5,000, earning the car is not a guarantee.
  • The Pickup initially costed 10,000, but the price has been decreased to 9,000 as of a later update.
  • In the thumbnail of the Store Robbing Update, the Pickup's license plate read as "GOT GAS", however, the plate read as "ABC DEF" in-game.
    • In the update of Season 5: Let the Memes Begin, the Pickup's license plate changed from the default "ABC DEF" to "DIESEL", referencing its most likely powertrain.
  • There was a glitch that when players entered the Pickup then jumped out of it at the spawn, they would either get stuck in or glitch onto the roof. This was because the Pickup spawned under the frontal roof of the Gas Station.
    • Its spawn was moved to the front of the refill stations of the Gas Station, thereby fixing the glitch.
  • There was a glitch that when a player used Rocket Fuel, the Pickup would fly extremely high and travel with a very fast speed, which would continue even when the truck stopped using rocket fuel.
    • This was patched in the Blade Update.

Miscellaneous trivia

  • Prior to the removal of the Starter Pack, the Pickup was one of the only vehicles that could be obtained by paying Robux, along with the SWAT Van and Celestial.
  • The Pickup used to be one of the few Cash costing vehicles you can spawn with the free Mobile Garage; the others being the Deja, Model 3 and the Semi.
    • This has been changed in the Prison Bus Update, as now all vehicles under 100,000 can now be spawned with the free Mobile Garage.
  • The Pickup is the second Chevrolet-branded car in Jailbreak, after Camaro, third being the SUV, fourth being the Ambulance, and fifth being the Ray.
  • The Pickup is the first truck to be added in Jailbreak, before the additions of the Monster Truck, Firetruck, Raptor, Cybertruck, Bank Truck, Sentinel, Tow Truck and the Semi.
  • The Pickup is one of the only three purchasable vehicles that can be bought after one donation, the others being the Deja and the Model 3.
  • Prior to the November 2020 Update, the Pickup could be purchased after one successful robbery. However, there are some caveats:
    • The player must rob the Cargo Plane with the Bigger Duffel Bag and VIP Gamepass. Also, the player must be lucky in order to get the crate which pays the highest. If these criteria are met, they will obtain 9,000.
      • However, after Miscellaneous Update 86, the player must rob the Presidential Vault in the Crater City Bank with the Bigger Duffel Bag and VIP Gamepass, which gives 9,000.
      • Alternatively, players can rob the Mansion, which will reward the player at least 13,000.
