Not to be confused with the Plasma Pistol.

The Pistol is a free semi-automatic handgun, the starter weapon of the game. It is extremely easy to obtain, as it is located throughout the map, spawning at heavily-visited locations.

Overview

The Pistol has a low capacity, at just only 8 rounds, and deals 15 damage per shot. On top of that, it has a sluggish reload time, making it not as reliable in the form of a primary weapon, but serves well as a secondary weapon when other weapons do not have ammunition loaded. However, being free, the Pistol is valuable.

Overall, the Pistol is not the best, but also not necessary the worst. It’s accuracy, damage and magazine size may not seem practical at first glance, but in the hands of a sharpshooter it can easily take down any enemy in the way.

As of the Balance Update, the Pistol now features improved accuracy, as bullets now shoot straight where the crosshair was aimed, and the Pistol also fires fully automatic on mobile.

The Pistol was revamped in the Apocalypse Part 2 Update, featuring a new model, along with new sounds.

SWAT Pistol

A matte-black SWAT Pistol with a suppressor is unlocked with the SWAT Gamepass (GoldenRobux425). Regardless of which team the players are on, SWAT Gamepass owners will automatically have the SWAT Pistol and are unable to revert back to the regular Pistol. As of the Gun Skins Update, the SWAT Pistol's firing sound effect was changed to be the same as the Pistol, making it identical. It was then changed back to being semi-silenced, plus a new remodel as of the Season 2 Mid-Season Update.

The SWAT Pistol was also revamped in the Apocalypse Part 2 Update, featuring a new model and new sounds too.

Strategies

Pistol

The Pistol can be used for mid-range combat purposes, however, it takes 7 of the 8 bullets to kill a player. For mid-range purposes, however, the Pistol can be quite suitable for players who are fairly accurate with it. It can easily wipe out hostiles, due to its decent fire-rate. In close-range combat, the Pistol is not the best weapon as it takes some time to kill, but it is still a viable choice for those who have no other way of defending themselves.

The Pistol's bullet drop is very abysmal, which allows you to hit enemies from huge distances without aiming more upwards. It can be seen more of as a cheaper sniper if aimed right.

The Pistol is good when using it alongside another weapon, such as the Shotgun or Uzi. In fact, in medium-long ranges, the Pistol is extremely accurate when shooting enemies or their vehicles. The Pistol is also a good weapon to disable vehicles with, and can be used as a substitute for other weapons when completing the "Pop a criminal's tires!" contract.

SWAT Pistol

The SWAT Pistol can be used for killing enemies quietly, but enemies can still use the minimap to spot who is shooting them. However, the SWAT Pistol can still be useful to stay relatively stealthy. It has been used heavily to pop tires quickly or shoot down helicopters, and aerial vehicles (2 shots needed).

Trivia

  • Like the Rifle and Shotgun, this weapon received a model change in the Weapon Revamp update.
  • The older version of the Pistol resembles the Pistol gear item found in the Roblox Studio library.
  • Alongside the Rifle and Shotgun, this is one of the first 3 weapons in the game while in BETA.
  • Before the Fall 2020 Update, Pistols were not available in gun shops.
  • The SWAT Gamepass allows players to change the color of the Pistol from White to Matte.
    • This made the Pistol the first weapon in the game to have weapon skins.
  • The Pistol received a slight buff in Miscellaneous Update 28, which increased its damage from 14 to 15.
  • As the Pistol's model was refreshed in the Weapons/Items Update, the matte black-colored Pistol was unobtainable, as Badimo did not update the matte-black Pistol model until the Jewel Party Update.
  • On the Jewel Party update, the SWAT Pistol was implemented back into the game. In this update, players with the SWAT Gamepass received a silenced, matte-black pistol. Players with the SWAT Gamepass can also get the silenced Pistol by equipping a Pistol.
    • In the Gun Skins Update, the SWAT Pistol received another remodel, however, the silencer was removed and its sounds were shared with the normal Pistol.
    • This has been implemented back in the game as of the Mid-Season Update, adding a silencer and new firing sounds.
  • As of the Jet Ski & Power Plant Update, the Pistol can now be acquired inside the ground floor of the watchtower at the Bounty Bay Airport.
  • The old version of the Pistol is based on both the Desert Eagle and the Beretta 92[1], chambered in .50 Action Express and 9x19mm Parabellum respectively, due to 8-round magazine capacity. The version with a suppressor is simply made by adding a suppressor to the front of its barrel.
  • The current Pistol icon in the inventory and weapons menu in Gun Shops is based off the Glock 17.
  • The accuracy of the Pistol is near perfect when still, but when walking and sprinting, the accuracy significantly degrades, shooting at an angle instead of at the crosshair.
    • However, as of the Balance Update, the Pistol received a buff in accuracy, as the bullet hits where the crosshair was aimed. Mobile players can also now shoot the pistol fully automatic by holding down the shoot button.
  • The old Pistol can still be seen in all Police Stations and both Criminal Bases, but when using it, you use the new model from recent updates.
    • This is most likely due to the fact that there isn't much of a priority to change the model from the Police Stations and Criminal Bases, as it is not necessary to.
    • When a Pistol gains a new spawn over at a new location, it always keeps the old Pistol model. It is obvious that the developers copy and paste it from a previous Pistol spawn, but it also may be a "tradition" to keep the look of the old Pistol or to just not confuse players with a dropped Pistol with the newer model on the ground or a table.
