Did this thing get a makeover?

This vehicle has been remodeled, as its previous model was outdated compared to newer vehicle models.

The SWAT Van is a gamepass vehicle in Jailbreak that can be driven by anyone who owns the SWAT Gamepass and can be acquired at the Prison parking lot.

Overview

The SWAT Van can seat a total of up to 8 players: the driver, one passenger next to the driver, two passengers behind the driver, two passengers behind the passenger next to the driver, one who can stand on the roof and use the Minigun, which requires the SWAT and/or BOSS Gamepass, and another player who can sit in the rear. The handling is also very good, and is great for pursuing Criminals. While slow compared to other cars, it can be used as a roadblock so enemy cars cannot pass.

At first, only somebody with a keycard could drive it out of the prison, as it is the only place it spawns. But now, there is a ramp in the Prison, so players can drive off the ramp and use rocket fuel to get it out. However, this is still an issue for people that don't have much Rocket Fuel. Players can still spawn a SWAT Van with the Premium Garage gamepass or spawning one in a Garage.

In the 2023 Prison Update, the SWAT Van spawn point was moved from the Prison Garage to the Prison parking lot. This was due to the removal of the Prison Garage.

Performance

The SWAT Van is a decent vehicle. It features decent speed, launch, and acceleration. Other aspects are also decently good, with the handling being the best. This beast also features great off-roading and braking ability. As a result, the SWAT Van somewhat lives up to its GoldenRobux425 price.

Overall, the SWAT Van is fairly mediocre and is a good vehicle for police to drive. However, the majority of the players play in the criminal team, which makes it fairly good as well as bad at the same time. As a result, it receives a mixed reception among the community.

Surprisingly fast for a vehicle of its size, reaching speeds of around 154 MPH after 2023 fall update. Ray and Steed are both faster. It is, however, slightly behind the Cybertruck and the Interrogator. Its top speed is slightly slower than that of its criminal equivalent, the Celestial. The reverse speed is easily comparable to many low-tier vehicles. It is quite slow but not overall the slowest, although it has quite a slow reverse speed at 49 mph, it's ahead of many vehicles, such as the Teslas and Classic

It launches fairly fast. It can compete with many low-tier and some medium-tier vehicles. However, it can't compete with anything higher. The closest competitor is probably the SUV and Celestial. The acceleration is fairly decent. It still compares to many low-tier vehicles and some medium-tier vehicles. It can take a while to get to the top speed, mostly it takes a time of 15+ seconds.

Even though it's a heavy vehicle, it has great handling but it has some cornering issues and stuck in tight spaces. Overall, it's very good at handling at all speeds. The ground clearance is high but not the highest. It's very stable when driving on dunes and other rough terrains. However, due to its loose suspension, it tends to lose some speeds when climbing obstacles. The closest competitor is probably the SUV.

The SWAT Van has good brakes but certainly not the best. The brakes are still very good, taking about two seconds for the vehicle to make a complete stop. It's only behind the Teslas and other high-tier vehicles. The SWAT Van has 150 HP, which is very good. It is comparable to Ambulance but behind Frost Crawler, Sentinel, Firetruck.

Trivia

  • "SWAT" stands for Special Weapons And Tactics.
  • When it was first added, the SWAT Van had no sirens, but in a later update, it received sirens. Once more in the 2017 Winter Update, it spawned without sirens and could only receive them if a police officer entered the vehicle.
  • Before the Weapons/Items Update, the SWAT Van didn't have a turret, and players could sit on the roof where the Turret would be.
  • Like the Camaros that spawn at the Police Stations, the SUV, Helicopter, UFO, Jeep, Cybertruck, Eclaire, Stallion, Drone, Volt, Stunt, Jet, Firetruck, Crew Capsule, Volt 4X4, Concept, and the Black Hawk, it only spawns in a specific color.
  • The SWAT Van can run over supercars with raised or high suspension and if the supercar has low or normal suspension.
  • This vehicle was great at moving the giant soccer ball for the Dual Flag Spoiler Event.
  • This used to be able to escape the Museum without pulling the lever.
    • This was done by lining up the backseat of SWAT Van to the Museum's wall.
    • This was patched in the Balance Update after players are unable to enter vehicles near robbery locations.
  • If Robux translates to Jailbreak Cash, the SWAT Van would cost just over Cash Icon25,000.
  • The Interrogator and SWAT Van, are the only cars based on dedicated law-enforcement vehicles.
  • This vehicle fits 8 people, 4 in the front, 3 in the back and one on top of the minigun, before it was 4 as there were 2 in the front, 1 at the back and one on top of the minigun.
  • The SWAT Van was the first vehicle to show the inside before First Person Driving was added.

Miscellaneous Trivia

  • The SWAT Van was the first emergency vehicle to be added to the game.
  • The SWAT Van is one of 5 German-based cars in Jailbreak, the others being the Posh, which appears to be based on a Porsche 918 Spyder, the JB8, which is presumably a 2017 Audi R8, the Boxer, which is based on the Porsche 718 Boxster, and the Beam Hybrid, which is based on BMW i8.
  • The SWAT Van has a default license plate reading "G-SWAT".
  • The SWAT Van is based on the Mercedes G Class.
