Why can I not buy this?

The content featured on this page is no longer obtainable in Jailbreak. It is now exclusive content that can only be obtained through trading, and it is unable to be purchased by non-owners.
Became unobtainable on: September 28, 2024.

Not to be confused with the Classic or Shell Mark-5.

The Shell Classic is a unobtainable safe-exclusive vehicle in Jailbreak. Modeled by oof_ed,[1] it was only available in Tier 5/Legendary safes, which could be bought for 100,000. Being of Legendary rarity, players had a 3% chance of getting either this, the Tesla Spoiler or the Tesseract Rims.

The Shell Classic was removed from Tier 5 safes as part of the Fall 2024 & Season 23 Update with the Legendary safe revamp.[2]

Overview

The Shell Classic is a vintage roadster. According to oof_ed, it is based off the Shelby Cobra 427.[3] The vehicle has an open top, stripes running down the car, and side-mounted exhaust pipes.

Performance

The Shell Classic has good performance, beating out the La Matador in most ways and being on the level of most mid-tier supercars, and its good clearance makes it less likely to fling on roads than other supercars.

Due to its 1% chance to be awarded from Legendary safes, the Shell Classic costed around 10,000,000 (the cost of 100 Legendary safes) on average. As such, it was not advised to target this vehicle for its performance, as the average cost to performance ratio is very low in comparison to most other vehicles of its tier at the time.

Trivia

  • The Shell Classic is the first vehicle in Jailbreak to be exclusively obtainable in safes. It would be followed by the Fiasco (Common), Laviolette (Street), Hammerhead (Police), Venom (Crime) and the vehicle that replaced it: the Manta.
    • The Model 3 is also available in the Street safe, but is not exclusive to it.
    • The Shell Classic as well as other prizes in the Legend safe were replaced in the Season 23 update, as announced by asimo3089 on Twitter/X.
  • The vehicle's proposed name was "Mamba", as oof_ed revealed in his original Reddit submission post.[3]
  • When it was originally released, players could access the Shell Classic by simply spawning it in any garage for free. This was quickly patched a few minutes later.
  • The Shell Classic is theoretically the most expensive vehicle in the game as the chance of getting this in a legendary safe is 1%. On average, it would cost 10,000,000, making it even more expensive than the Concept.
  • The Shell Classic is based off the Shelby Cobra 1963.
  • The Shell Classic was the first non-limited vehicle to not feature a spawn point, with the second being the Fiasco. third being the Laviolette, fourth being the Hammerhead, fifth being the Venom, and sixth being the Manta.
    • With the release of the Season 23 Update, the Shell Classic has become limited and the Manta has taken its place in the Legendary safe.
  • When changing the window color or window tint of the Shell Classic, its headlight covers are also affected. This trait is shared with the Macaron and the Bloxy.

Miscellaneous Trivia

  • The Shell Classic is the fourth convertible in the game, released alongside the Tiny Toy. The first was the Posh, second being the Jeep, the third being the Boxer, the fifth being the Poseidon and the sixth being the Longhorn.
    • However, unlike the Jeep and the Boxer, the Shell Classic does not have a convertible roof.
  • The Shell Classic is the first Shelby American based vehicle to be introduced to Jailbreak.
