Why can I not buy this?

The content featured on this page is no longer obtainable in Jailbreak. It is now exclusive content that can only be obtained through trading, and it is unable to be purchased by non-owners.
Became unobtainable on: March 8, 2020.
Same face, different name.

The following Jailbreak vehicle has been renamed. This was likely done to avoid copyright, as prior names took directly from real-life car brands.
Former in-game name: Mustang.

The Steed (formerly named the Mustang before Miscellaneous Update 103) is a now-retired classic muscle car in Jailbreak. It came out alongside the Stallion and Monster Truck in the Monster Truck Update.

Overview

The Steed was retired in the March 2020 Update, along with the Mighty and Brulee. Players that attempt to buy the Steed from another player who owns the car will get a notification saying "Vehicle is retired".

When the Steed was retired, it received pinstripes going along the length of the vehicle, which could not be changed or removed, being a mark of its service. However, these were removed and the retired vehicles were given a plaque with the word "CLASSIC" on the side of the vehicle.

The Steed got a replacement in the "5 Days 5 Vehicles" update which was revealed to be the Challenger, a muscle car that spawns at Mountainside Town Gun Shop until the Power Plant was revamped, and the Challenger was moved there. However, it was moved back to the Gun Shop, proving that it was the replacement of the Steed.

Performance

The Steed in terms of performance was rather mixed, having the best and worst of most cars, featuring quick launch and great braking, alongside a convenient spawn location and costing only Cash Icon50,000, it was fairly affordable, but the Steed had a few downsides. Among some of the things that made the Steed deemed a rather poor option to purchase were how it reacted to low-end devices/laggy internet, and its top speed and rather solid but still less than average acceleration.

Like many cheaper cars, its top speed was below that of the Model 3, and the Steed's reaction to low-end devices/laggy internet was something not normal at the time. If the device the player is on has an FPS level of below 20, the Steed will start to rapidly bounce up and down, making it nearly impossible to drive. These factors drove players away from the car, despite being among one of the first cars players would see upon heading into the Mountainside Town as it spawned at the Mountainside Town Garage (original). It was retired in March 2020. While the Challenger is objectively a better vehicle, the Mustang's amazing handling allows it to handle tight corners better than the Challenger. Additionally, new affordable vehicles, such as the Ray, are slower than the Steed, which was once deemed slow. As for the Steed's speed, it is about the same as the Jeep.

Overall, the Steed was a satisfactory vehicle for its price. It's handling and braking are amazing, and allow the Steed to be useful in many scenarios, though its low speed, poor acceleration and frequent bouncing on laggy devices/internet drove players away.

After being buffed, the top speed is now 150 MPH, which is able to beat the Badger, SUV and Model 3. It is able to tie with the Ray. However it's behind the Cybertruck and Boxer. It has a reverse speed of 49 MPH, which beats out the Roadster, Cybertruck, Mighty and other vehicles.

Launch is good, providing a decent burst of speed, still once again, is bested by other cars like the Classic and Model 3. Still, it outperforms some cheaper vehicles such as the Ray and Camaro. Accelerates faster than most low-tier vehicles, but loses to the Mighty, Classic and Model 3. It takes about 8 to 10 seconds in order to reach top speed.

Very easy car to handle, keeping speed during even the sharpest of turns. However, the long size of it makes it slightly difficult to maneuver in between buildings in the Rising City. It's also quite easy to drift except for sharp turns. It struggles to keep speed whilst off-roading, even bested by the Camaro. It can still drive through rough terrains, but not very stable. Also, it has some trouble on acceleration while off-roading.

One of the best brakes in the game, and the second-best of general vehicles, only losing to the Model 3. The Mustang makes a completely stop within one to two seconds. No info

Trivia

  • The Steed is based on the 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.
  • When a texture is equipped, it appears to be upside down on the Steed. This trait is shared with the original model of the Stallion, which was added in the same update.
  • If a player attempts to buy the Steed after its retirement, a notification will appear saying, "Vehicle is retired."

Miscellaneous Trivia

  • The Steed is the first vehicle in Jailbreak to be retired, along with the Mighty and Brulee, second being the SUV and Megalodon, third being the Posh, and fourth being the Classic and Airtail.
  • The Steed is the second vehicle in Jailbreak to get a replacement vehicle, after the Brulee, third being the Mighty, fourth being the SUV, fifth being the Blade, and sixth being the Posh.
  • The Steed is the second muscle car to be added to Jailbreak, after the Camaro, and third being the Challenger.
  • The Steed has a 4-speed transmission.
  • When the Steed first received the retirement pinstripes, it also got a special license plate that read "CLASSIC". The stripes were removed for a short period, but they returned in the April 2020/Live Update. Despite the stripes returning, the "CLASSIC" license plate did not.
    • This also happened with the Brulee, but the plate on that car read "THE OG".
  • Before the Fire Update, this was the longest land vehicle in the game.
  • The Steed is the first Ford-branded car added in Jailbreak, with the second being the Raptor.
    • The Ford horse logo is actually a steed which is the name of this vehicle.
