The Sword is a melee weapon in Jailbreak, and was the first of its kind to be added to the game.
Overview
The Sword can be found at the Rising City Gun Shop, Crater City Gun Shop, Mountainside Town Gun Shop, Prison Gun Shop and the Military Base, or as one of the rewards from giving the Rusty NPC a Donut. Costing 
20,000 to purchase, the Sword appears to be the Criminal counterpart to the Baton, although can still be bought by Police.
History
When Jailbreak was first publicly released, asimo3089, who made all of the weapon icons, posted a sheet of all of them onto an unknown media site. This sheet included the early design for the Sword, which at the time looked more like a machete.
However, on July 11, 2019, two months before the Sword's release, asimo3089 posted the first appearance of the Ship that was at Cheater Island on Twitter. The post read as follows:
"⚓We've got some company this week in #Jailbreak! They're not here to stay but to drop off a new item! 😯 The new item will reveal itself sometime in the upcoming weeks... 🎁."
At first, the Sword was encased inside of a box on the deck of the pirate ship. There were no clues as to what was inside. A few days later, the box moved a bit forward on the ship.
On August 27, 2019, the ship set sail and left the box on the Cheater Island. A day later, the Sword was revealed by Badimo on Twitter. The Sword was not yet obtainable but rather revealed.
On September 1, 2019, the Sword was officially implemented, placed on top of a box at Cheater Island.
In the Flintlock Bonus Update, the box that the Sword was originally spawned on became removed, and the Sword now spawned on Cheater Island, half-plunged into the sand.
In the Nukes Update, the Sword now also spawns in the Bounty Island near the shipwreck.
In the Fall 2020 Update, the Sword no longer spawns at the Cheater Island and the Bounty Island.

Trivia
- This weapon used to deal 16 damage, meaning it took at least 7 hits to kill somebody at full health. In an unknown update, the damage was buffed to 20 damage, now taking 6 hits to kill someone at full health, as constant health regeneration would not allow someone to be killed with 5 hits.
- There are 2 animations for swinging the Sword in-game: a normal swing, and a lunge.
- The Sword leaves a white trail when slashing or lunging.
- It also gives you a slight temporary speed boost when lunging.
- The Sword leaves a white trail when slashing or lunging.
- You may use a swift strategy to finish off an enemy, though it is very risky for a Criminal to do it, since they might get arrested. It is better to use it for speed boosting.
- Like the Taser, the Sword can be used as a guilt detector on Prisoners. It will do no damage to innocent Prisoners, while it will damage guilty ones. This comes in handy when playing as a Police officer at the Prison, making it easier to find guilty prisoners.
- This weapon can be useful at close quarters, where a gun will typically miss many shots and the user's view may be distorted if they have the weapon camera-lock turned on.
- This weapon is not recommended to be used against Police, as handcuffs have a better advantage with a longer range than the Sword's hit-range, and a criminal getting close to a police officer is vulnerable to their taser or handcuffs.
- Police do not drop items when killed by the Sword, similar to punching.
- The Sword’s spawn changed on the Flintlock Bonus update, now spawning plunged into the sand.
- A spawn was added to the Island Prison in the Nukes update.
- As of the Fall 2020 update, the Sword no longer spawns at either Cheater Island or the Bounty Island, instead being available to purchase and equip from the Rising City Gun Shop, Crater City Gun Shop, Town Gun Shop and the Military Base War Room.
