Not to be confused with the Tanker.

The Tank is a vehicle that was added in the Winter 2021 Update, on December 18, 2021. It costs 1,000,000 and spawns in the Military Base.

The Tank is known for having a powerful main gun, great off-roading, and having slow speed.

Overview

The Tank has the ability to fire shells while being driven, with each set of ten shells costing 5,000. It deals massive splash damage per shot, and a maximum of 65 damage within a certain radius. It also has protective armor, which reduced damage taken for anyone inside by 60%. These characteristics paired with its strong control over movement make it great weapon for fighting multiple enemies. The turret can rotate a full 360°, it also has great elevation and depression angles.

If the Tank has been shot too much, it will be temporarily disabled rather than having its treads destroyed. Black smoke will fume out of the vehicle, similar to what happens with helicopters and the UFO when they are disabled, minus the beeping sound.

The Tank can be towed by aerial vehicles, despite its large size.

If a player is sitting in the seat on the right of the drivers seat, they will gain control over the turret removing control from the driver.

Performance

The Tank has a below average top speed, slower than that of the Camaro. Its reverse speed is around half of its forwards top speed.

Despite this, the Tank's excellent launch and acceleration makes up for that. Additionally, its braking is almost instant. The vehicle can be hard to control around narrower roads and sharp corners due to its enormous size and almost instantaneous turning capabilities. The Tank has notably great off-roading performance, climbing over moderately steep hills, players, and other objects with ease.

Overall, the Tank is not recommended as a general use vehicle due to its unexceptional top speed and large size.

Handling takes time to get used to as its steering systems are different from wheeled vehicles, but otherwise, it is somewhat smooth. Controlling the Tank's turret may be tricky as the player needs to ensure the cursor lands on target while avoiding obstructions. Off-roading is remarkable, being able to climb up moderately steep hills without speed loss, in which no other vehicles can perform. Although it also has stability issues when traversing over other vehicles this is the case for all off-roaders.

Strategy and Tips

Here are some tips and tricks for using the Tank.

  • Combat
    • Single Targets: If you are pursuing someone with a Tank it is most important to keep in mind that you will almost never be able to catch up to a fleeing enemy. With this in mind, it is useful to keep track of the player using the minimap as well as use shortcuts across the map. Due to the Tank's incredible off-roading capabilities, it is possible to run through rivers and over hills to cut off the enemy. Each direct hit will deal up to 2/3 of a player's health. This means that two well aimed shots should be able to take care of any enemy. Even so it is almost always a bad idea to chase after targets, especially those which are in super/hypercars. Instead, it is recommended to ambush players who are trying to get to their vehicle, one shot will decrease their health and walking speed, enough to the point where you can fire another round to take care of them, usually before they reach their vehicle.
    • Multiple Targets: Multiple targets are harder to take care of due to their group power and tendency to overwhelm a single Tank. However, the Tank is not an easy target, since while in the Tank you have to yourself many abilities that the enemy might not have. One being armour, inside of the Tank, damage taken is reduced, and therefore you can take more shots. It is still not recommended to charge straight at the targets as the combined might of several guns can easily overpower the Tank's armor. Instead use the second ability to your advantage, your turret. With it's incredible striking range, it is a great choice to peek from behind corners where the player's hitbox cannot be hit by guns. In addition, since your avatar is not visible to players outside, they will have a hard time landing their shots on the driver. The splash damage of the Tank can also damage players behind walls. With this in mind, be vigilant for enemies who are taking refuge behind walls and do not hesitate to fire at them, just make sure the wall isn't too thick and the point aimed at is close to where the players are hiding. The third ability you can use to your advantage is the Tank's mobility. The advantage of combat between someone in a Tank and players on foot is that the Tank will always have the advantage in terms of mobility. This advantage makes hit and run strategies especially useful as vehicles will regain health much faster than players without the right equipment, this makes it possible to take down the enemy's health faster than they can deplete yours and the Tank's reducing the chance of vehicle disabling.
    • Aerial Targets: The Tank can fire at a certain angle upwards, however it's effective range is quite shallow. Helicopters and other aerial vehicles will attack from directly above or from angles out of reach. In these situations, you are at a severe disadvantage; you will want to seek cover immediately. If you reversing, immediately after you stop, accelerate forwards to gain a quick burst of speed. Once you are sure you are protected, the best thing to do is wait or make a quick dash for other areas of cover. In order for most aerial vehicles to get within targeting range of you, they will most likely have to get within your targeting range. Having knowledge of this, you should wait for either the enemy to leave or for them to get within your range, that's when you strike. Rinse and repeat, with aggressive targets they are most likely to come attack you more than once within a short span of time, utilizing the Tank's overwhelming damage you can easily take care of your opponent. Take note that the Tank is extremely ineffective against planes as they are in constant motion. Landing a prediction shot on a plane is extremely difficult due to the difference in the shell's speed and the aircraft's speed, thus it is only recommended that engagements between targets like the drone or other helicopters be considered as their movement is much more predictable.
  • Using the Tank as a Criminal
    • Spawning: As the Tank is in a generally difficult spot to obtain it is best recommended to spawn it at a garage (if you don't have the premium garage). Stealing it at the military base is not a good idea, considering the fact that there are turrets there and they will most likely take you down before you get the opportunity to escape and the fact that it needs to be hijacked.
    • Ambush: If there are many cops at a certain location, such as the Rising City Bank or Jewelry Store, ambush them with the Tank. The high damage and robust entrance will definitely take people by surprise, an effective method of taking down the enemy.
    • Fleeing: The Tank has incredible acceleration, even though topping at 74mph and cannot be pitted by police vehicles, to shake off pursuers in super/hypercars make sure to cut across steep hills, rivers, etc. The Tank also has the ability to drive over cars, similar to the Monster Truck.
  • Using the Tank as a Police Officer
    • Robbery Busting: Being able to seat 4 players max the Tank can be seen as a team vehicle. A team of cops in one Tank is possible however you can also have multiple Tanks partaking in the busting of robberies such as a Bank robbery. For example, using the Tank, you can surround the perimeters of a building such as the Museum or Bank. When criminals are leaving the building, Tanks can each focus on one target if the criminals decide to spread out. With well-planned and organized attacks, it becomes very simple to arrest criminals. You can also do this if you are alone, but you would have to do more work and make quick decisions when prioritizing targets. Wait until criminals group up and collectively strike them all, they could either fight back against you or heal up. With the Tank's incredible ability to climb over vehicles, it will be easy to traverse the usual roadblock of criminal vehicles parked in front of robberies, afterwards its up to you on how you want to arrest or kill the criminals.
    • Fleeing: The Tank should never be used as an escape vehicle if possible. If you are escaping with max health it is a different situation, however, people have the general tendency to flee when on low health. Due to the Tank's underwhelming speeds criminals can easily catch up and kill you. The only way to escape successfully in these situations is to force the enemy into leaving you or utilizing the terrain to its fullest extent. Because of the Tank's design, it is hard to see anyone's health inside of the Tank. Using this to your advantage, you can make criminals think that you are backing off, or making an effort by firing back. This will weaken the enemy and usually will lead them to stop any attempts at killing you. It is also a preferable option to climb generally steep terrain or traverse hills which leave the vast majority of criminals who travel in supercars in the dust. Firing back at enemies while on the run is also extremely effective because unless there are armed passengers the driver will not be able to do anything. It becomes a hassle to chase after you in these situations and most of the time will result in the enemy backing off.

Trivia

  • The Tank appears to be based on multiple Tank designs.
    • The turret seems to be based on the Israeli Merkava Mk.1 and the later versions of the Israeli Magach Tanks(Specifically the Magach 7 and Magach 6B Gal Batash)
      • The mantlet of the turret have similar visual appearance to the Chinese Type 96 and Type 99 Main Battle Tanks.
    • The hull seems to be based on the German Leopard 2 series. Namely the 2K and 2AV prototype variants.
  • The Tank cannot equip engine upgrades, similar to the Volt.
  • The Tank cannot equip police sirens.
  • The Tank is unable to use Rocket Fuel, unlike most of the other land vehicles.
  • The Tank is unable to drift, unlike most land vehicles.
  • The Tank is a very large vehicle. So in garages, spawn it in the larger garage slots, so it doesn't become stuck.
  • Interestingly, the Tank's cannon in Jailbreak fires low velocity fragmentation "missiles", whereas in real life, the cannons on MBTs typically fire high velocity "Armor Piercing Fin Stabilised Discarding Sabot" (APFSDS) shells.
    • However, certain vehicles in real-life(especially Main Battle Tanks from the Warsaw Pact and Infantry Fighting Vehicles) have the ability to firewire and laser guided munitions from their main cannon
  • The Tank in Jailbreak only reduces damage from firearms by 60% implying that they are still penetrating the armor. However, in reality, Tanks are known to have strong armor that is specifically designed to prevent penetration by other Tanks or anti-Tank weaponry, while being proven to be impenetrable by small arms fire.
  • The Tank cannot be pit-maneuvered.

Miscellaneous trivia

  • The Tank is the ninth vehicle in the game to be equipped with weapons, after the Helicopter, Celestial, SWAT Van, Black Hawk, Little Bird, Jet, Bank Truck and Agent and before the Goliath.
  • The Tank is the third largest vehicle that you're able to spawn from Garages around the map as well as with the Premium Garage gamepass.
    • The largest vehicle is the Semi and the second largest is the Goliath.
  • The Tank does not have its own chassis and does not support engine gearing, this means that the code for the Tank is only used for the Tank at the moment. [1]
