The Tow Truck is a vehicle released in the March 2022 Update of March 4th, 2022.[1] Seating only two, it spawns at the Beach Town. It can be bought for 80,000.

Overview

Teased on March 3rd, 2022, the Tow Truck was added to the game due to being one of the biggest requests given by players.[2] It has the special ability of towing almost every vehicle in the game with its tow hook, even when the vehicle is being driven by other players.

Appearance

The Tow Truck appears to be inspired by the Pickup, as both vehicles share similar shape and design. The Tow Truck's most notable appearance traits are its front bumper and lights, its sleek and modern design, and low rear. It has a towing rope that is always equipped at the back.

Towing abilities

The Tow Truck's most prominent feature is that it can tow away any vehicle in the game using its hook, similar to how towing by using helicopters works.

However, the Tow Truck can also tow vehicles when it is being towed, tow a car driven, and tow vehicles that cannot be towed by using helicopters (e.g., the Black Hawk and all other helicopters). Towing another vehicle slows the vehicle down due to the bonus weight.

Additionally, the Tow Truck can also drag the Cargo Ship's crates, which was a bug but intentionally left in by the developers.[3] However, players will not get any money from the crates.

A driver whose vehicle are being towed by a Tow Truck can pop the truck's tires to unhook their vehicle.[4] The time needed to hook onto a vehicle with somebody inside was also increased in a later update[5] as its previous towing ability was considered overpowered.[6]

Performance

The Tow Truck has an acceptable top speed and reverse speed. However, its launch and acceleration are unexpectedly exceptional considering the vehicle type. In addition, the Tow Truck has great handling and off-roading performance, along with fair breaking, making it a vehicle easy to control. While towing another vehicle, its stats plummet significantly, the portion of which depends on the vehicle it is towing.

Overall, the Tow Truck is a decent vehicle for 80,000. Despite so, most players purchase it for its towing ability rather than for its performance.

The Tow Truck has a top speed of 132 MPH, making it slower than the Camaro and Jeep, which is marginally faster than the Classic. Maximum reverse speed is fair at around 53 MPH, placing it around the likes of the Beam Hybrid and the NASCAR Free.

Surprisingly fast for a tow truck, the launch is average. This allows it to gain a large portion of speed within seconds. Comparable to the Stallion. It can reach 51 MPH in 1 second. The Tow Truck has fairly good acceleration, reaching its top speed in under 15 seconds. Again, comparable to the Delorean, Challenger, and JB8.

Off-roading

The Tow Truck has a very good grip and turning ability, although it can be very glitchy and hard to control when towing another vehicle. When not towing a vehicle, it is comparable to the likes of the MCL36, NASCAR, and the NASCAR Free. Due to its good launch, acceleration and reasonable suspension, it has good off-roading capabilities. It is very similar to many track focused cars, such as the Beignet, MCL36, NASCAR and NASCAR Free.

Durability

It can come to full stop in about 1.3 seconds, making it one of the best in braking. Comparable to the La Matador. Closely following the Eclaire. The Tow Truck has a somewhat high durability of 125 HP and a disable duration of 7.5 seconds, comparable to the Camper and the Surus.

Trivia

Miscellaneous Trivia

  • The Tow Truck's custom license plate reads "MATER", likely referencing Tow Mater (Mater) from Pixar's Cars franchise.
  • The Tow Truck appears to be based off of the fourteenth generation 2021-present Ford F-150 (somehow with the 2022+ Lightning front end). Despite that, F-150 tow trucks were never built in real-life.
