The Vents are one of many methods players can use to escape the prison in Jailbreak. The vents have been around in some shape or form since the game was released in 2017.

Overview

Current

As of the 2023 Prison Update, the vents have been relocated from the main Prison building to between the Prison Police Station and Visitors Building. A keycard is no longer required, but the door of the Visitors Building is only open at certain times, and if a player goes in it, they can go through the vents and break in to the Prison Police Station. They can go the opposite direction and exit the building, even if the door of the Visitors Building stays closed.

Entering the vents from the Visitors Building, players will have to turn around and climb a small ladder to reach the upper path of the vents. Walking down that part, players will have to drop down, with or without the assistance of a long ladder. The path below features a fan blowing towards players that will slow them down. After making through that part, players will need to turn right and climb one last ladder before exiting the vents and appearing in the Prison Police Station.

The directions of entering the vents from the Prison Police Station is the opposite of the above paragraph, only this time the fan will blow players away, speeding up the process on that path.

Outdated

Since the March 2019 Update, the Vents were located at the bottom of the Prison, right next to the Security Office. Before March 31, 2019, the vents were located in the old Kitchen area, next to the Cafeteria. After the 2023 Prison Update they are now located in the visitors office and you can now go to the Prison Police station without a Keycard.

For players to get into the vents, players would have needed a keycard. When in the vent's entrance, they had to climb up a ladder to get to the main chain of vent tunnels. When players reached the end of a certain tunnel, its door would open and they would be able to land on the Prison's roof. From there, they could cross a small beam which leads to the back of the Prison, which would then allow them to jump on and run along the Prison's walls.

Initially, the vent escape was much smaller and its entrance was located in the Prison's kitchen. Players would have to climb up several pieces of furniture to reach the vent's opening, crawl through the vent, and would land at the back of the Prison.

This escape was quite rarely used and could have been considered a hidden gem for that reason. This was also a possible reason for their removal. Players could usually escape using this route without Police interference unless they were being chased. This could lead on to the wall and escape from the parking lot if Police officers block the Sewers or the punching box due to being more popular escape routes. However, this method required a keycard. Most of the time, the ladder that lead up to the vents on the ceiling didn't register the player's climbing movements, disallowing the player to climb upwards and reach the ceiling vents to continue escaping, due to the small space where the ladder is located. That explains why most prisoners prefer other methods of escaping. Players struggling to get up the ladder might have accidentally opened the vent door, alerting police officers nearby.

Trivia

  • At the start of Jailbreak, the vents' entrance was located in the kitchen in the cafeteria, but since the March 2019 Update, they were moved to the very bottom of the Prison, near the Security Office, and were completely removed in the 2023 Prison Update.
  • There were fans near some of the corners on the top part of the vents, but they are only 2D and cannot hurt nor suck players. They were merely decorations.
  • The ladder from the Vents in 2019 was not a real ladder, as it is simply a mesh and not a block, but players could still climb it.
    • This was most likely due to the black blocks welded to the side slightly sticking out and Roblox's system letting players climb it.
    • Unfortunately, half of the time the ladder did not register the player climbing. That, paired with the fact that prisoners had to have a keycard to access it, made the vents a somewhat inefficient escape, despite having been a secretive one.
