Weapon Skins are a feature that was added in the Gun Skins Update on March 8, 2020, that allows players to customize their weapons cosmetically.
Overview
According to Badimo in a tweet, this feature is a "bragging-rights" type of purchase, purely for cosmetic purposes, and does not serve any practical usage. Each skin costs a different amount, as the cheapest weapon skin costs 5,000, while the most expensive skin costs 50,000. Weapon skins can also be obtained as a reward during certain Seasons. There are currently 24 skins.
As of the Apocalypse Update: Part 2, to purchase or change a Weapon skin, head to any desired gun store, take out the weapon you wish to customize, and go to the blue box next to the main counter where you can purchase weapons.
Originally, you could press the "B" key or the button on mobile while holding your Weapon of choice to bring up a menu that had the weapon skins. You could purchase or equip the desired skin here. However, this is no longer the case.

Notes:
- Red skin names indicate that a skin is no longer obtainable. You can only get it through trading.

Trivia
- Weapon Skins were one of the oldest requested features of Jailbreak.
- Some textures may glitch through the weapon if players are traveling fast, such as standing on a fast vehicle standing in a train car or in the Cargo Plane.
- The Forcefield Launcher, Sword, and Baton are the only weapons that cannot equip weapon skins.
- Smoke Grenades and C4 can also not equip weapon skins, despite having the GUI. This is likely a bug. This was patched in the Apocalypse Update.
- Players can equip separate skins for each weapon.
- Most of the Weapon skins are double the price of the same texture for vehicles. An example is that the vehicle variant of the Camo Skin costs 50,000 but the same texture for weapons costs 100,000.
- The total price of all of the weapon skins is 290,000.
- All of the weapon skins are based on vehicle skins.
- There used to be a bug where players cannot scroll through the Weapon Skins GUI.
- This was patched in the Blade Update.
- In a patch update shortly after the Season 3: Looking Back Update, a "None" skin option was added allowing players to unequip their skins.
- The only season with two weapon skins in the rewards was Season 1: New Beginnings.
- In the season reward announcement tweets on the Badimo account, the weapon skins shown as rewards are usually displayed on guns. The Snowstorm, Fire, and Circuit Board weapon skins were displayed on the Plasma Pistol.
- The Galactic Carbon weapon skin was displayed on a Rifle.
- The Digital Confetti, Earthquake, and Drip weapon skins were displayed on the Flintlock.
- The only exceptions to this were the Flaming weapon skin (which was displayed on a sphere) and the Black Ice weapon skin (which was displayed on a circle with the texture on it).
- As of the Apocalypse Update: Part 2, the price of all the weapon skins was considerably reduced.
- The Wooden Toy, Radar Camo, Manga, Aquatic and Aurora skins were added due to popular request prior to the update. asimo3089 also stated that more of these might come in the future.[1]
- Similar to previous skins, these skins are also based on seasonal skins. However, unlike the previous ones, these are permanently obtainable and were not awarded as prizes for their respective seasons.
